Also a very nice surprise came to my work today. My gauges arrived a week earlier than expected!! Bought the autometer elite series gauges (oil & water temp, and oil pressure). Reasons why I went for this instead of torque pro app;

1.Was using my phone and torque pro app but I really wanted to measure oil pressure when I go to my first track day in a month or so. This is pretty valid.
2. For the other two, yes I know torque pro still works perfectly, but I have this OCD thing where I don't want to constantly use my phone and kill the battery. Yes weird.
3. With the elite series, I could put in different colours for cold, optimal and hot temperatures. I feel this is very important at the track where you can't focus on the gauge and need something easy to indicate the temperature. Also, can even add a flash where it gets beyond the hot limit so it is very easy to focus on track and be conscious of my temperatures.

I have already purchased my Block8head triple gauge pod. Should arrive in about 3 weeks. Please find below images of the gauges as well as part numbers.

In regards to wiring everything up, what have you guys found to be easiest? I have read some wiring to their radio, and I saw one from @RallySportdirect when they wired via the access panel near the steering wheel. I am thing going down that route since my gauges will be right next to it.

I am going to be using the oil gallery plug to get oil temp reading. Will be using a M18x1.5 male to 1/8" NPT female adapter. For the oil pressure, looking at using one of the plugs under the oil filter. In regards to this, I believe the plug on the left is the sender for oil temp to the ECU. Do I just leave that unplugged as shown in their guide? Pictures below. Also in the second photo, it also shows the plug on the right removed. Do I need to do this as well?

And for water temp, it says to use their adapter (part number Autometer 2280) and install it in the heater hose near the fire wall. Any specific location?

hey mate, if you look in my build thread I used a greddy adaptor for the water temp which was the nicest and cleanest install solution (not cheap though for what it is). And for oil temp/pressure I used an adaptor block under my oil filter. I got everything from Garage88 and it was on the shelf

Went to my first skidpan yesterday. My God I had an absolute blast. Manage to get some pretty good drifts for a first timer. Will going through all the photos and videos today and have them up here ASAP!!

One thing I was surprised about is how high my oil temps got. Each run lasted around 4min and every time, the temps got up to 112-115 degrees Celcius (233-239 Fahrenheit). I think this is due to my headers. Considering wrapping the oil pan in gold foil to deflect the heat.

Build Status Update

I know things have slowed down in regards to the mods, but rest assured, I promise December is going to be a VERY hectic month for me relating to the mods. Hoping to really reduce my already purchased not yet installed list on my OP.

Have followed up on my wheels and Block8head triple gauge pod. Wheels are estimated to arrive between 12-19 December depending on how quickly they pass customs. Wheels will be Enkei RPF1 17x9 +35. Yes I know a common wheel but I have seen very few with the bronze, and none on a Pearl White. So hoping it won't just be another 86 with the enkei's. With the gauge pod, will be sent on Monday 27th November; estimated shipping time is 7-10 days so should arrive between 6-8th December.

Things to look forward to leading up to Christmas;

1. 25 November- purchasing Penrite 0W-20 engine oil, hopefully purchase a sandwich plate adapter with two ports for oil pressure/temp gauges for my HKS Type S oil cooler. If all goes well will purchase it.

2. 2 December- will be going to a dyno day at BMR Autowerkes. Will be running on the dyno dynamics dyno. Excited to get a wheel dyno reading and see how it compares to the dyna pack hub dyno I got with my tune. Have seen that I should expect 5-8% lower reading. Would love to confirm that personally.

3. 8-10 December will be absolutely flat out.
8th December- Straight after work get my car on the jacks. remove front bumper, drain oil and install my gauges in the Block8head gauge pod and install the pod as well.

9 December- Install HKS Type S Oil Cooler, install Greddy water temp radiator hose adapter and wiring gauges. Get that done during the day as at 6pm, have a skidpan event. Will be very keen to see how much lower my oil temps are with the cooler.

10 December- Install my Bilstein B16 coilovers

4. 15 December- get track alignment at Heasman Steering

5. 16 December- track day at Wakefield

6. Week of 18 December- Install all of my Verus Motorsport goodies

Note- Depending on when my wheels arrive, I may get the wheels and tyres installed for the track day. Although most likely, will occur the week after when I go back to a street alignment.

Dyno day is done. Went as expected. 116.8kw. Was expecting about a 5-10% reduction so around the 130kw mark but it was an absolute scorcher today. Was around 35 today and guessing even hotter inside so about 100F. Definitely sucked some power. For comparison, when I did my tune, was only about 22 degrees (72F).

Not sure if the other curve is my torque; forgot to ask. Bit disappointed with it as the first dyno had a table top torque curve; significant drop here.

Hi guys. After some advise relating to adapters for my gauges. I bought bspt to npt adapters and just trying them out before putting them onto the car this saturday. Now they are an absolute pain in the you know what to tighten. Made sure my npt sensor is being threaded into the npt side of the adapter. Now i know that it needs to be a tight fit, but i am using a wrench to tighten and even that is requiring a lot of force. Just want to make sure this is ok before doing all of this on the car. First time doing this so want to be safe.

Weekend of Highs and Lows

The past weekend was a very busy one for myself. Had to install my oil cooler, had my drift night and install my suspension. It was one with great satisfaction and great frustration.

Saturday was an awesome day. Installed my HKS Type S oil cooler (part no ending in AT011 not AT009); difference being AT011 includes all necessary hardware and supporting items (brackets etc). Install was a very straight forward installation. Instructions were easy to read; but I ended up finding the instructions posted on the forum in colour (my personal preference). Everything installed without a hitch and the oil lines tuck very nicely above the crash beam. Only modification required was a slight trim to the plastic headlight housing in order for one of the bolts to fit in place. Pic included to show what I am talking about and to show my sub par grinding skills!!

It's big test was that Saturday night where I would put it through it's paces at my drift pan event. Needless to say, I was very surprised as to how well it cooled the oil even though my fog light was still installed (instructions say to remove it). On the highway, normal temps prior to the cooler were 92-96 Celsius; with the cooler they dropped to 85. I was worried it would overcool in normal conditions but I am happy with 85. Even better, on the skidpan, prior to the cooler I was hitting 115 Celsius without even trying hard. This time I was hammering it and never got over 99 Celsius. Needless to say I am very happy with the product.

Sunday was dedicated to my suspension. Taking the stock one out was a breeze. Had both the front and rear out and installed by verus engineering LCAs. Went to installed my rear Bilstein B16 shocks and that is when it all hit the fan. Instructions were very basic. With the Bilstein B16 (not B14s) you need to remove the damper stiffness adjuster knob on the top of the damper prior to installing it and then put it back on once installed from the boot. Clearly I stuffed up and I broke both adjusters on the rear shocks. Take full responsibility for it but man the instructions could have been a lot more clearer especially from a company like Bilstein. Thankfully they are only 20min from my place so this morning dropped them off there to be repaired. The Bilstein rep said that it is quite common with the 86 for this to happen and I am definitely not the first to break the adjuster knob. Will cost about $150 to fix. Should be done in a few days.

Have my car booked there for an alignment on Friday so will be taking the rest of my coilovers there together with my camber plates and LCAs for them to install. Really want it for my track day this Saturday so just going to get them to install them.

Aim for this week is to install my adapter fittings for my gauge sensors. Pod should be arriving in next day or two. Depending on how I feel, may install the gauges prior to my track day; depends on how busy I am. Also will be posting images and videos of my drift night tonight.
