Recommend me a tire for my new BRZ
Just bought a 17 BRZ w/performance pack. Wow! Love this car. It screams for better rubber. I live in no snow southern Florida. Recommend for me a summer high performance tire to take me to the next level. Please:cheers:
P.S. Also what to do with those brand new tires that came with the car? |
I recommend the Bridgetstone Potenza S-04 Pole Position. They are what I use and love them. Also they are quiet and have a lot of grip.
The stock tires, you can sell them. There is many people who would buy them for other types of cars. |

Weren't RE-71 one lap cheating wonders? I'm no sure i'd want them for longer track sessions or for daily driving (due very short mileage due quick wear). Would prefer better fit for hybrid use MPSS or AD08R.

Don't swap it out, just burn it off & have hella fun learning the car while at it.
Then get Michelin Pilot Super Sport, comfort/silent + one of the most grippy daily tire. The stock tires i had last near 30k mile + 3 drift day & 1 small track day for me.....?? * it was rainning on 2 of the drift day lol lucky me Try to do it in less then 10k mile is your new challenge |
A great value summer tire with loads of grip is the Firestone Indy 500 Firehawk. They certainly will last longer than re71r... save those for the track haha.

With how cheap 225-17s are, I would just run RE-71Rs all the time. Note, this is a 2-3rd car for me. |
If you're gonna drive in the rain a fair bit too (which I imagine you will in Florida), you can't really go wrong with the Continental DW either
|
Federal RS-RR or Maxxis VR-1

Yes, they grip. Yes, they will quadruple or even more increase frequency of buying tires. I've seen people bothered by even less spendings.

Honestly bro if your only daily driving just keep those stock tires till they have no grip. They are better than you think, and you wont realize it till you buy new ones.
After you buy new tires you'll realize those screams were just in your head!:bonk: But if you still really want new ones, I'd recommend Michelin Pilot Super Sports. They are the best all around summer performance tires. But don't expect it to be a world of a difference, I can still power slide on them easy, and if I could I would have waited till my Primacy's wore out. |
The best all around track.street tire I have used is the Falken 615 K+. It's 200 tread wear so good grip on track but still decent wear on the street. And not to expensive.
I might add I like these much better than the Hancook RS3s I had before, And traction seams as good to me as Nitto NT01's which are a 100 tread wear tire. |
