Throttle by cable FA20?

I know that a car’s acceleration can be effected by the throttle body. Perhaps the FA20 would not feel as slow as most claim it to be if it had a different throttle body? Could throttle by cable improve the way the BRZ/FRS/GT86’s acceleration feels or perhaps even make it faster? Could a throttle by cable throttle body even be possible with the FA20? What do you guys think?

No. There's no real reason to do this.

Or just smooth out how it responds via tuning.

There's no fake reason to do it either.

Yes you just need to tune it. Since it is drive by wire you can program it to open the throttle all the way when you press the gas down half way. Did that to mine and it is twice as fast now!

That's silly. Why would anyone program wide open throttle at half pedal, when you could program it at 1/4 pedal instead and go four times as fast?

Somerandom18 10-05-2017 03:59 PM

Four times as fast? You mean I'll actually be able to go 100 mph now??

I think it is a great plan. While at it get rid of that damned fuel injection system and get a proper carburetor on the thing. Probably better to do away with the ECU and electronic ignition and replace it with a vacuum advanced distributor. Hell let's go all out and change the tranny to one without synchros.
Let's make 1961 great again!

Wait, we have synchros? I thought I saw a post where I had to double clutch?

No you saw that you have to double clutch so you don't ruin the synchros.

Oh, so they're there...but we should never use them?

Okay i get it, we have dbw, but should never take advantage of the capabilities.

On a more serious note, even if you wanted to run a cable throttle, the ecu would never be able to run the car because the DBW is integrated into the function of the engine and traction control. Its not just a sensor connected directly to the throttle servo.
