Sports Car Has Landed ~ Texas FR-S
9 Attachment(s)
My 2013 Firestorm Red FR-S w/ manual transmission and zero options has arrived. It took approximately 3 weeks to arrive to me from the day I negotiated and placed my order. It came with exactly 8 miles when I went to go pick it up on the day it arrived.
Bought the 2011 MX-5 (Bilstein suspension pkg, 6 speed manual, true red exterior) for about $22,300 + TTL... Best offer I received when I compared and shopped through multiple Toyota / Scion dealers was $21k for it. Had it for about 7-8 months, I think. I'll miss the MX-5's smiley face the most... JK! :D Received a finance rate of 2.7% from Toyota. Paid Scion's True Price on the FR-S, which was $24,985. Received a complimentary 3M tint... And some good customer service compared to other experiences I've had. I have less than 50 miles on the car thus far... Set the rev 'beep' limiter at 3,500 rpm... So that I can take it easy on the new car for the first 1k miles or so. I'm doing mostly city driving, and that's how I usually travel for the most part anyway. I applaud Toyota and Subaru for making this car... I just HAVE to own a sports car for myself, and I've owned nothing but sporty cars for myself. Most importantly, I'm thankful that the FR-S has back seats so that I can use them for my 2 small kids and their car seats. The wife is DEFINITELY a happy camper, lol. :bellyroll: I will try my best to post up my UNBIASED review in comparing the '11 MX-5 I owned and tracked on a monthly basis... After I get to understand my new FR-S better. Thanks for the welcome, thanks for the appreciation, thanks for being positive! Please feel free to fire away with any questions you may have in your mind... :happy0180: Texas FR-S |

IF you are in the D/FW area then you just filled in one of our gaps. We were missing the Red one. Congrats man, look forward to seeing it in person.

Congratulations!!
I think the 86 is one of very few cars that can match the feeling of driving an MX-5 and maybe the only one with backseats. I have had two Miata's myself including the Mazdaspeed version. You will not be disappointed. :happy0180: |
congrats on the car. shes a beauty

You're right... I am not disappointed. Most importantly because I will be building up mileage on this FR-S much more than I did on the MX-5 because I can use it with the versatility of having my wife and two kids come along without any hesitation whatsoever... And that was the main problem with the MX-5 (well, only my problem ;)): I could not daily drive a sports car as much as I wanted to. I wanted the purity in driving. I wanted the lightness in driving. I wanted the build quality. I wanted efficiency. I wanted versatility. I wanted affordability. I wanted feel, I wanted handling... And now that in turn has led me to cross path with the FR-S. Quote:

congrats on the Firestorm! The one color I did not want was Argento (since my Mustang is silver) but once I saw the Argento in real life that's the one I ended up buying.
At the time I was about to pull the trigger on an MX-5 (after weeks of researching and test driving several other cars) but the salesman made the mistake of not following up with me before I was able to test drive an FR-S. |
