Insert this link "......https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwpka_DDJis"

No need to click on the globe or anything. Just insert that link and it automatically embeds itself. The issue is because you're using the youtu.be URL which doesn't work.

just watched it, they mostly just trash the power

I don't think it's so much trashing the power as much as it's comparing the powerband between the original and the refresh. Besides, the 86 is slow when it comes to straight line acceleration, we can all admit that.

the torque dip is different, and it also has more torque in the dip. The final drive makes it cruise at higher RPM, and when I downshift to do "evasive" maneuvers, it is not in the dip. It is annoying compared to the forced induction cars I have driven, but I still am at 90 mph about to be arrested in a flash of a second or less.

I like daily driver guys, but they sucked real real bad at this review. They did not even dyno it or downshift it. I have no idea what the point of that video was. It was their worst ever by a long shot. Everyone who drives me car finds themselves over accelerating and having to back off out of fear. I tell them to keep the gear one lower than they think they should be in, and they are cackling driving the thing.

I think the guy who owns the 86/BRZ wants to sell it. It looks that he lost his interest already ...

I could have sworn that he did sell it, but maybe not. I think he just bought a Lotus Elise

These guys live and test in the mountains, some 7000ft above sea level. It's well documented that NA cars in particular don't make the same amount of power at such high altitudes and I suspect the appearance of a worse torque dip on the 2017 car could be complicated by this fact.

I'm fortunate that I live at only 100ft above sea level and my opinion on the power of these cars is that it is more than sufficient. I think these guys need to try travelling somewhere lower altitude and test drive one of these cars again and see what they think about the power then. He did a full power pull in 3rd gear and it looks like it accelerated slower than my car does in 4th gear and I'm 100% stock intake/exhaust/tune.

I've seen quite a few of their videos take place on the roads out here in Southern California, which aren't really any more than like 1500ft elevation. Saw Utah plates in the video, so not sure what the elevation is out there, but I'm sure that doesn't help.

I understand their complaints, but after 5 years of this car being out, it's kind of beating a dead horse. You know what you're getting at this point. If you don't like it, modify it or look elsewhere.

dattran86 09-29-2017 12:48 PM

Complaining about the same old stuff.

Just downshift to a lower gear or Buy a faster car.

TofuJoe 09-29-2017 01:07 PM

The video feels like a cheap shot at the platform. Those guys were late to the game with the car and the supporting mods. They never really understood this car half as much as the people on this forum.

Need more power and to get rid of the torque dip? Header and a tune. $1200. Done.
That's not enough? Forced induction.

Mentioning those things would have lead to a more balanced review instead of this outdated douchebaggery.
