the silver car i posted is the GT concept. the red car posted above is based on it. basically what Kia did was turned the GT concept into a production car and slapped on the "Stinger" name.

Yeah the GT fastback sport sedan concept had a far superior interior to what's being released and those suicide doors are pretty cool but impractical. Overall though I could definitely see myself in that car, especially the awd version. The GT4 Stinger is fantastic and I was REALLY hoping it would become a reality. Who knows maybe they'll do what they did with the Hyundai<>Genesis split and have a sporty line under the GT or Stinger name.

I am waiting to see what the results of the new upscale Genesis badging will be for the coupe. It could be interesting (or junk I guess) and the timing should be right when I am ready to change again.

It will be interesting indeed. If all the speculation is right by 2020 there should be a new Supra, 86, WRX, genesis, RX9? and probably a few other cars as well! :happyanim:

If it all comes to fruition, next time I'm car shopping it should be a good time! :burnrubber:

Saving my pennies for the Supra.

New RX9 was already killed.

Supra will probably be a Hybrid.

New WRX will probably be the size of a Camry.

Just give me the SFR. :thanks:

SFR was pretty much stated to be a Japan only car right from the start.
It is hard to win the game of concept car roulette.

Ya the old concept was something to be interested. This is just another performance sedan in a market overflowing with performance sedans and the name Stinger is just wrong.

Why is it wrong? I'm glad they gave it an actual name - too many cars have alphabet soup as their model designation.

Oh don't object to a name at all but to use it on a sports coup concept and then apply it to a sedan is just lazy. Besides no matter how sporty a big sedan should not be called a "Stinger".

They should come up with something new anyway. Car companies seem to like to reuse the same names even though there are loads of other words in the English language:

I really like the car and was thinking about trading in the 430 for one next year lol, I really like the long wheelbase and the styling is handsome and elegant. Looks like Alfa Romeo and Audi A7 had a baby and put in an interior from a benz lol!

Jalopnik had a good point about this car too:

Fair enough on the reuse from fun coupe concept to production sedan, but the rest of Kia's names are so bland (Optima, Sportage, Cadenza, etc). This one at least has a little flair.

I think car companies in general (and especially Japanese ones) have a hard time coming up with names now. They really seem to like to just add an A to the end of a made up word.
Tribeca
Legacy.
Impreza
Outback
Forester
Prius
Corolla
Yaris
Camry

YukiHachiRoku 01-10-2017 12:44 PM

Legend
Vigor
Prelude
Integra
Supra
Fairlady Z
Soarer
Raf***a
Inspire
Silvia
Laurel
Aristo

These are legendary cool names for cars that I wish were still around! The acronym soup has no soul. (given some names are JDM market)
