Now I really I have gone and done it!

So I'm at my dealer today from my 86's first oil change.
In the show room they have an 860 limited in what they call Nova white. The salesman asked me if I was interested, I said if it was a manual I'd be all over it.
Well I have a manual at one of my other stores if I can get it would you be interested? I said well I'm sure you could not meet my price. He said what's your price we talked back-and-forth and we agreed on a price to my shock. $27000.
The sticker was $31,000+. Then the next hurdle was, would they transfer over from my car to the new one. My wheels and tires , TRD springs,TRD air filter, and exhaust?
He said it would be more than he could work into the deal. So I said ok thanks, I will pass. Then he said wait let me ask my service department for there estimate.he came back and said if I can do it for you will you buy the car today. I said how much for my 86 with 5500 miles.
He said $23,000. I said let's do it. So now I have dropped off my 86 and will pick up the 860 tomorrow late in the day. The only thing I will have to purchase and install again in my Apple car play head unit. One question I do have is. I bought the Toyota Center console lid that opens to the side with silver stitching, for my 86 that I traded in today. Do any of you know if anyone makes one with black vinyl and orange Stitching console lid?
The dealer does not have one they can order.

Wow. Salesman was probably one cat away from a bonus to make that deal!

sounds like a lot of wasted sales tax from your previous purchase....

Andrew025 09-23-2017 12:24 AM

Oh boy, you really went and did it now.

Someone stop this madman.

That is very true, I don't do this very often.

Congrats !

Now make sure you get a great deal on all the minor items you buy daily for the next year. Coffee on sale ? Detergent on sale ? Can you buy zip lock sandwich bags for 1 1/2 cents each rather than 2 cents each. That's the way I roll. Get ripped off on car purchases, save every penny on all other items. LOL.

Car nuts we are for sure.

Well, yes ....... you went and gone and done it ........:eyebulge:

And that's OK ....... enjoy your new machine.

Might I suggest that the next time you take your car in to be serviced, that you go across the street and get a burger ...... rather than going into the showroom ...... :iono:

The margins that dealerships make on cars must be so small.

I agree with you, beleave it or not. I am very conservative with my my money. I just turned 60 and am semi retired. I told my self after I purchased my other 86, that was my last car purchase for a long time. This car will go to my daughter in a year or two ( she is a driving coach at Porsche in Los Angeles). Once I retire for good. I do have other cars to play with though.

I agree, the invoice on my car is $28,600. So they must be receiving incentives from Toyota, to be able to come down to $27000.

Going across the street doesn't help. That is how I ended up getting the FRS while having a Lancer serviced.
