Oil cooler setup on a turbo car.
I am having issues fitting the sandwich plate and lines without having them interfere with either the turbo housing or the oil cap. Off the sandwich plate I have 90 degree fittings that I have tried pointing both up and down and I still have clearance issues. Please show me what your setup looks like. Thank you.

what turbo setup, and what cooler?

Hummm
90 degree ? I had to use -10 45's on my sandwich plate due to clearance issues. And no banjos because reduced flow in that type of fitting. https://imgur.com/tozxmMW Old pic pre newer mods but still same oil lines https://imgur.com/tozxmMW https://imgur.com/a/KYnva |

My current setup is 2 fittings that are fastened with banjo bolts, producing a 90 degree elbow off the sandwich plate. |
Don't be stupid, ask the price FIRST!

Then when I went to pick them up, totally oblivious to what I was going into, they told me my bill for the two hoses was $308.08! ! ! ! !? ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !? ! ! !? ! ! ! !? WTF? ? ? ? ? I have done a lot of experimental prototypes and have been going to them for some fairly wild hoses and they always treat me good. So they just made assumptions that this order was like previous ones. In fact, they priced the hose at cost when they built them (because it had been special ordered for a NASA project {the aerospace one} and they had had the remainder on hand for a couple of years and just wanted to move it out of inventory). I know that because when I went into 'cardiac arrest' they showed me their price sheet. They offered to make a new cheaper set and just keep the stainless hoses as a loss, making new ones ready by Monday... but I had a track day the next day and went ahead and took them. See how important some people feel about going VROOM round n round! But if I had gone with regular -10 rubber hydraulic hose n industrial plated steel fittings it would have been less than $45.00 to have hoses fabricated. FYI - I also would re-emphasize that banjo fitting are RESTRICTED FLOW and should not be used in an oil cooler system. People do it but they are NOT getting the flow they think they are and hence losing out on cooling capability of their cooler. |
Thanks for your feedback. I ordered the AN adaptors for the sandwich plate to get away from the banjo bolt setup. I will attempt to clear the air filter with my existing 90 degree elbows and swap them out for the 45s as you have if I still have clearance issues.
