Side Marker Fix?

I know this has been going on since the start of time, but after all these years has anyone come up with a trick to get the side markers to stay in place?

I've been using 3M double-sided tape for a while but am tired of having to fix the tape every week or so (long bumpy commute)...

*I was originally missing the "A " clip on one side marker so I ordered another pair but after adding the clip the light was still loose. Somewhere in the process of jigging things around a "B" or "C" clip fell off and I got so frustrated I ended up reinstalling with whatever clips I still had and tape  (best part was I found the "missing" clip after reinstall)

**Going to try gorilla double sided tape when I get the chance but doubt it'll make too much of a difference.

***I also tried something similar to this:

Drilled a hole in the side marker and slid a toothpick into it, the toothpick is still there - but the top of the side marker keeps popping out.

Gorilla tape does work, even when wet. Used it for about a month until I found a set of used markers for $10. But, I like that thread you referenced.

Yeah it's great, and I think for some people it will work. With the holes + toothpick I have no worries of the light fully popping out...

It's just like most I want the markers flush as possible :P

I drilled a hole through my side marker and used that to zip tie it to the hole in the fender you stick the screwdriver through to pry the A clip loose. I've never been able to pry it loose properly and end up just ripping it off. No video shows/can show how to do it properly. When I order off of 86speed I'll add some A clips and see if that does anything

JDM ZIP TIES! what the previous post said. works like a charm

Take a note though, that JDM zip ties bring just half the power gains that real JDM stickers of +5whp each.

I'm using USDM zip ties though. +4 WHP per

Go widebody, you just cut it out :)

Can you take a picture and share?

I just want to see where the hole was drilled and see if I can replicate :- P

I just use 3M double sided tape. I just replace it if it starts to come loose or I have to do work with the bumper off. Been thinking about drilling a hole and using safety wire or cutting up some command strips so I just velcro it.

I drilled a hole where the a-clip goes, popped the marker in, and then snake a small ziptie in and catch the bracket. It's a slight bit of finesse (have to move the fender liner out of the way) but I'm tired of replacing A-clips and this seems to work perfectly.

So the gorilla tape kind of melts and turns real gooey when the temperature gets too hot... So I went back to 3M an low and behold the marker had stayed in place despite a ridiculous amount of jolts and jumps (pot holes / crappy north NJ speed bumps, etc.)... I think the trick this time was that I 1) more thoroughly cleaned the area and 2) cut the tape using a straight razor so it exactly fit the side marker...

I have to get around to doing the other side marker like this now...

Command strips (not sure if I'll go with the velcro or sticky type) were going to be my next option. Once this tape stops holding I'll give them a try.

Yeah I usually prep the area with isopropyl alcohol and use a utility knife to cut it to shape. I try to have at least 2 areas with 3m double sided tape cut to fit and that usually does the trick. You want flat spots on the sidemarker and the part of the car where it is gonna be taped onto. It's not exactly flush due to the thickness of the tape but at least it stays on.

What great timing... was looking for a fix on this.
Ran over a cone at the track today in oversteer and it went through the right wheel well and popped the marker light out. Used painters tape to hold it in and continued racing so now I know how to fix.
Thanks guys!
