How low before bump steer becomes an issue (running RCE Yellows)?
 

I'm running the RCE yellow springs on stock shocks and I'm curious how low you can go before encountering material bump steer on the 86. I ask as on some bumpy roads I definitely notice some bump steer and wasn't sure if I should consider some Whiteline tie rod ends down the road that have the potential to offset some bump steer associated with a lowered suspension.

The RCE yellows are about 0.75'' drop (not significant). Spirited driving on flat roads I don't notice bump steer with the current setup.

I currently have the Whiteline anti-dive front LCA bushings installed which add a bit of caster along with a strut tower bar.

Are you actually getting true bump steer, or just noticing that over bumps the wheel is pulling at your hand?

True bump steer is when the wheel steers (without moving the steering wheel) through suspension compression. If you're hitting a bump and it's moving the steering wheel you're fine.

From what I can tell bump steer isn't much of an issue on this car even when going lower than what springs offer. I've measured the rear and I'm confident that's relatively non-problematic, especially at reasonable ride height changes offered by most aftermarket lowering springs just like RCE Yellows.

I don't know how the front acts precisely but I believe you're feeling what @wparsons speculates, normal steering feedback from a sports car on a rough road. Real bump steer is when the wheel changes direction due to suspension travel regardless of your steering input (or out of your control like the rear on an AP1 S2k or NC Miata)

At 1.4" I have never noticed bump steer. I haven't gone over many bad bumps either though.

I appreciate the feedback, I don't think I'm feeling true bump steer which is good to know.

At close to 2" lower (somewhere between 1.5" and 2"), there still is no bumpsteer (or at least a noticeable amount to me). Thats for the front, my rear is at 1" so, of course there is none there.
