I need a solid aftermarket warrenty
 

Specifically to cover the motor and transmission I'm nervous when I see > 50k motors blowing

I have a 2013 brz with 34k

Have you messed with the engine .... i.e. FI .... ??

Do you track your car ... ??

If yes to either or both of the above, an extended warranty may be good for you.

If, no to both, I would suggest you rethink that option.

(from what I've read on this forum, most of the cars that blew engines, either have FI the engine and/or have extensively tracked the car)

I wouldn't sweat it. Could it go? Sure but we only hear the bad news. The percentage that have had issues is probably under 1%. It is not the massive epidemic it would seem by reading here. Even an extended warranty isn't always going to help since they could just find some way to avoid paying. Perform proper maintenance and don't go nuts with adding power and the engine will likely last the life of the car.

If it helps, I'm at ~86k and haven't had any horrible problems. I did recently have to have the timing chain cover resealed just recently because there was a small oil leak that dripped on the exhaust manifold and smoked. I'm not sure how much it would have cost because I have the 7/100 CPO Gold Warranty that came with the car when I got it.

Are you confusing track events with hooning, donuts, burnouts, drifting, and other stupid ricer shit?

I do not track the car but I do have a 250mi commute through a few mountain passes and the car is driven.....spirited :)

I 100% service the car and do not defer maintenance stuff

As soon as you tune or chane parts the warranty would be denied anyway. Take the money you would pay and keep it in case you need to repair.

Track events are legal hooning.

Do you know what track tires are for? They are sticky.

You don't slip and slide on a track unless you're about to go into the wall.

With my limited experience, driving vehicles on and off the road, for the past 60 some years, it's my understanding, from what I've read, that "tracking" a vehicle, subjects the engine to prolonged high rpms and extreme heat. These two factors alone would accelerate engine wear and stress. Thus an extended warranty my be appropriate.

Although I do get confused about a lot of things, there ain't nutten wrong with my long term memory and I would venture to say I was "hooning, donuts, burnouts, drifting, and other stupid ricer shit" ....... while your father was still in diapers.

Of course, I told my brother and cousin to get off before I started ...... :D

I would not say that tracking has any higher RPMs than the way people drive on back roads.
Do you think that people drive at redline or something?
You typically stay in 3rd or 4th gear, and shift accordingly.

Your four sessions typically last 20 minutes each.

Watch (and hear) the RPM readout in this video.
Does it look any different than what you do on the twisties on any given weekend?
