Odds are that the bulk of the cost is blending the paint so the bumper looks the same as the rest of the car. That would still need to be done with a new bumper so the end cost will probably be around the same. I personally would just get it fixed.

Yea that is what they were telling me at various places, because the bumper was one unit/panel they couldn't just do the part that was scratched. In order to blend they would have to blend it with the rest of the bumper.

Luckily for me there is no crack on the bumper, but there are a few parts that are deep, which need to be filled in with resin. Have you had any experience in getting paint bumper fixed? The cost over where I'm at is mostly to do with the labor; most of them range from 80-90 an hour with about $120 in parts and paint. When I asked a few of the body shops about potentially buying a new bumper and painting it, it would cost in the $1400-1500 range. Again most of it was the labor costs.

I have had very good luck with repaired and painted plastic parts. Never had resin come out nor paint issues. The plastic parts on these cars really don't flex much and the paint used on them is nothing special. I am having my front bumper's many battle scars repaired and the bumper (well the whole car) repainted and have not a single worry that it will be anything less than perfect.

From what I have gathered from the body shop's was that the paint job would eventually come out as it was new; however time will tell how "new" the paint job will be in the coming months. As far as the resin, I am not to sure on how to go about that, I guess it is just something that I will have to deal with in the future.
