EDM Thread!!

Well as we all in the EDM world know, EDM is exploding right now. It's huge and I love every bit of it. I am myself a DJ and I spin mostly Electro//Trance//Progressive. I'd like to start this thread with whatever you guys want to add to it if you are into the genre of music.

I'll leave you all with what is going to definitely be a smash hit very soon when it releases:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHO3dE-IDWk"]Calvin Harris feat. Example - We'll Be Coming Back (Lyrics) - YouTube[/ame]

Also if you are interested and have some time please check out my uploads, remixes, mashups, and mixes on Soundcloud!

LOL. Interestingly enough, I love country music as well. I don't have many musical boundaries.

When we first got our EDM, I remember my boss was acting like a kid on Christmas. The thing about though was that it had trouble in the beginning, but as of lately it's been running a lot smoother, thank goodness.

OH and EDC Vegas was AMAZING this year! I'm going to Identity Houston with a MeetTheDJ's VIP pass here in August. Can't wait!

Dude, I knew you were awesome! I DJ too. Drum & Bass. I am using Traktor and mixing on Allen + Heath Xone 92 with dual X1's. I'll post up a mix later. I also dabble in progressive/techno/minimal

Yay, an EDM thread! Other people who like this music do exist! :D

I listen to mostly Trance, with some Progressive thrown in from time to time. Basically, if it plays on the Trance channel on DI.fm, I listen to it.

One of my current favs, which also just came out a week or so ago!

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlBo93AqZmg"]Kyau & Albert - Another Time [Official Video] + Lyrics - YouTube[/ame]

Kyau & Albert, despite not being as big as say Armin Van Buuren or Markus Schulz, are one of my favorite producers. I love their music!

I've been thinking about trying out to DJ. Before I invest in equipment, I might try some software and throwing some songs together.

I also plan on attending Electric Zoo next month!

OH Yeah dude that song is amazing. I played it in a set the day it released on Beatport. I too listen mostly to trance, then progressive, then electro. I went to EDC Vegas this year and we've got Identity Houston coming up where I have VIP tickets and I get to meet all of the DJ's and their friends/family!

Why couldn't you be female and live near me?!?! :bellyroll:

That's awesome!! I was planning on going to EDC NY, but some things came up and didn't get a chance to go. I'm really hoping to make Electric Zoo this year, since last year I didn't get chance to go to that either. I would've bought my tickets already, but I'm waiting to see if Armin or Markus is gonna play. I want to see either one of them live, and they did play every other Electric Zoo, so I'm hoping they'll get added at a later date.

I hear Markus will take the time to meet fans who want to see him. I hear he's a really awesome guy to chat with. He even will pose for pics if you want them!

I first heard that song when I saw the music video show up on their youtube channel, and I fell in love. Looking forward to hearing some remixes of it, as well as seeing them live at Electric Zoo! Another producer that I really enjoy is Alex Morph. Despite the fact that I heard Walk the Edge years ago, it still sends goosebumps down my arm to this day. Non-vocal mix, of course.

I'll give you that! :thumbsup:

Have a tracklist for it? Skimming through it I heard Markus Schulz - Caught. :wub:

If I may make a suggestion, and this is coming from someone who hasn't done ANY sort of mixing, so don't take any offense :), but your transitions could use some work. It sounds like you'll be playing one song and when the song ends you jump right into the next. Great work though! :thumbsup:

Re~Mix 07-20-2012 01:34 AM

Two tracks I've been listening to regularly for a while now. Generally give ASOT and Trance Around The World a listen.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FadFryMyZ28"]Promises Vs Pressure (Armin Van Buuren Mashup) - YouTube[/ame]

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_rSXzvFzCKc"]Rebound (Original Mix) - Arty & Mat Zo [HQ] - YouTube[/ame]

Enjoy!:happy0180:

More Trance lovers!!! :happyanim:

I listen to DI.fm at work every day, and have been for a few months now. But I've been listening to Global DJ Broadcast and A State of Trance for almost 2 years now.

That mashup is amazing. I've heard it before and have to say, it's one of the better ones. I also enjoy:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LdFqIhgNFzA"]Perception in the Redlight District (Markus Schulz Mashup) - YouTube[/ame]

Rebound, my god, is just beautiful. Another one of my favorites. I even got a friend, who doesn't really like Trance, to like it! Arty - Kate on the other hand is another choon!

Here's the link to my podomatic page. "Assassination of a DJ" is the mix I did tonight. For you guys that don't like DNB check out the mix titled "Upgrade"

Synack - I'll be checking out your soundcloud at work tomorrow. I listened to about the first minute of it before I had to quiet down, kids going to sleep.

Re~Mix 07-20-2012 01:45 AM

One more for good measure. Been a favorite song of mine for ages...

Also, the best song to drive to on the highway late at night. Poor quality YouTube, but had to get the street scene in!

I was testing some drop songs. I'm no trance DJ where all transitions are very long and perfect. Most of mine usually happen in 20 seconds or less. Its because I do hardstyle and electro as well. If I did a pure trance set I'd definitely transition much longer. Hmmmm all this pure trance talk makes me want to do a mix with those types of transitions.

Can't say I've heard that before, and yet for some reason I have a feeling I have. Very nice though!

Here's two classic songs (for me, anyway) that bring back the memories!

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13LAdZTc4T0"]Carrie Skipper - Time Goes By (Super8 Bangin' Mix) - YouTube[/ame]

Re~Mix 07-20-2012 01:57 AM

Delusion, that is an awesome track. Thanks for the find!

So many people out there producing EDM music that it becomes hard to filter through the Avicii's and get the good stuff.

You're telling me. When I hear a song I like while at work, I make a note of it on my phone and download it at a later date. Granted I've only been doing this for a few weeks, and my playlist is at 135 songs, with about 10 more that need to be downloaded. There is, of course, songs in the past that I like, but can't remember them without sitting down and sifting through my 4000+ songs on iTunes to find them or wait until I hear them again on di.fm.

Jayde 07-20-2012 02:04 AM

Oh, and this is a favorite, why, I don't know. Guess it's because a few of the lyrics can relate to me.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfVKviYjCVQ"]Tritonal feat. Cristina Soto - Lifted (Mat Zo Remix) - YouTube[/ame]

Re~Mix 07-20-2012 02:09 AM

My playlist grows a couple songs a week, at 500+ now. Instead of sucking up a lot of YouTube space i'll list a few more for those interested in checking them out...

Killing Me Inside (Josh Gallahan Remix) - ATB ft. Sean Ryan
This Moment - Cosmic Gate
Winter Never Comes (Mark Eteson Remix) - Paper Aeroplanes
On The Beach (Stoneface & Terminal Remix) - Reminder
Mirage - Pryda
Intro (XX Booty Mix) - Sander Van Doorn ... Heard D. Guetta play this live and it was sick!

I could go all night....

Tritonal is amazing. They exploded this year. I live like 200 miles from them. Saw them at EDCLV. They killed it. Go find the live set from EDC and listen.

I haven't actually been to a live show yet. Mainly because I have to travel 2 hours to see anyone and I don't want to go by myself, since I don't know anyone local who likes this music.

digital_assassin 07-20-2012 02:21 AM

Since you are all hunting down trance tracks this is currently at the top of my list.

When I lived in Phoenix I had tons of friends that were all into the rave scene. Then I got married and moved to Portland and no one I know likes this music either. I go upstairs and mix in my studio but don't really have anyone that can listen and critique me to help me grow. Oh well, my 5 yr old daughter dances and that's good enough for me!

To be honest, I'm not really a fan of most of the music on their. Maybe it's because I'm mostly biased to Trance, and they don't really play anything I like. Don't think I'll be keeping it in my BRZ once the trial is over.

I listen to music off my iPod via bluetooth while in the car. If I want to stream music, I'll use my phone and listen to di.fm via their app!
