Can't find pics of how this looks to decide if I want to get it as a backup for the no front plate ticket.

It attaches to the mesh grill but the plate itself is split between mesh and paint. Centered. Search stock plate location, shows a few examples.

It looks just like below when mounted. It's the plate mount that the dealer would have installed if they placed a front plate on your car prior to drive off:
