I guess to go slower?

To get into first gear at 30mph.

I double clutch anything past 3rd gear cause the 4th gear synchro is notorious for breaking.

I haven't double clutched a MT since the 1940s ......:iono:

He wouldn't. He doesn't know what double clutching is. He heard the term somewhere and thought it sounded cool, so now he's throwing the term around in a desperate attempt to sound cool to us.

I read that double clutching helps to prevent grenading your engine.

I thought you have owned "every" German car ever. Up to and including a 911.

There are maybe 3 confirmed cases on here where a synchro broke on a stock car. If you are double clutching up shifts you are doing it wrong. Really really wrong.

Once again terms are now misused, and are thrown around before they are understood.


Try looking up how to double clutch a crashbox or nonsynchro gearbox. It will help with understanding the need and why.
