JRSC E85 Delicious Issue

Wanting to see if anyone else has had this issue:

I've been working with the Delicious trying to get this resolved, but I want to slam my head in the wall at this point.

We've gone through a ton of revisions and alterations, but my FRS stalls (MT) when decelerating - as in downshifting coming to a red light and pressing the clutch in.

I've ensured the MAF housing is seated right and there isn't a boost leak anywhere. Also, it doesn't launch properly, sometimes stalling out there too - bogs down; and the power isn't there like it used to have.

Has anyone else run into anything like this?

JRSC C38
Jackson radiator/oil cooler
Delicious E85 kit and custom tune
Clutchmasters fx400 clutch and flywheel kit
DW fuel pump and injectors (came with delicious e85)

it's a 2016 with about 12k miles on it, spirited driving, but nothing too intense.

It sounds like a car specific problem. Have you asked your installer for assistance on the mechanical end?

I had an issue where the honeycomb piece in the MAF housing came loose and would ride against the MAF causing a variety of weird running. Then had a cat do pretty much the same thing.very bad running on that one.

I did the install myself and had it checked out by a performance shop, everything is good, the header is catless but the honeycomb could be an issue. i may order a new one if i can find it.

other than little stuff like that, we're out of ideas..

Have it checked out by someone who is intimately familiar with the JRSC for this car. Otherwise, the shop can only really do what you're doing and what DT can do remotely with logs.

How is the idle? rich smelling, rough??? I had a car do that one time, found a blade of grass stuck in the maf sensor.

If everything is correct under the hood, could it possibly be the clutch? You would probably smell burning clutch if it was wrong but maybe the pedal is adjusted to low or the clutch is not installed correctly and not fully disengaging.

Have you tried since you have the e85 kit to run 93 and see if the issue changes at all as your map scales fueling for the different fuel? If it runs fine on 93 but has issues on e85 its likely tune related. If the fuel type does not change it then its likely something mechanically wrong.

*Disclaimer- I do not have a JRSC kit this is just an experience I had with a wrx I used to own.*

Definitely sounds tune related.

Why do you think its tune related, They have tuned other Jackson kits on E85 with no problem. Just curious on your thought process not trying to be a jerk or anything.

Probable a silly question, but are you sure you are actually getting E85 from station you are buying from? I don't run E85 but several cars that I have seen that do have put in a sensor because it can vary so much from station to station.

loiselle1987 08-25-2017 06:31 PM

the e85 station carries good enough fuel. 80% content according to my readings.

the clutch was installed properly and is fine.

i've been running 93 in it for a couple weeks to see if there was any change, and it's exactly the same.

i just cleaned the MAF sensor with cleaner.

it's running perfect other than the stalling issue, no roughness, engaging fine, power is there.. even on 93.

i emailed jackson and they said the pulleys and lightened clutch could be causing the stalling since the response time so much quicker.

so far as what i've heard back from people and them it appears to be a tune issue.

at this point i'm ready to get a new car

I have a very similar issue. I emailed DT and they ask for logs from a cold start and idle for 15 mins.

Mine stalls a lot when shifting from X gear to neutral. But only when running 93. But when I’m running straight e85 I have zero issues.

@VABeachBRZ I had the same problem when I ran a mix of 91 and e85 around e20 with the Ac on my car would stall when changing gears
