Shifter/Transmisson Rattles

Sorry if this is already a thread somewhere but , my car is a 2016 frs and the day I bought it off the lot I heard a rattle when at low and mid rpms , like going over a speed bump or slow rolls in traffic. I hear the rattle/clunking near my shifter and is extremely noticeable outside the car as well. noise does change as I put pressure against shifter and noise stops when I am out of gear...

Toyota told me it was normal . I am waiting for something to blow and them say they cant warranty it out . that's when madness will start. SMHHH

Anyone have an idea or has had the same issue??

Actually I have the same noise on my 2017 brz. Its below 2300rpm and sounds like something is loose.

Yes , have you got it checked yet? I am going to keep going to Toyota in till they fix it or give me a new car

I'd suggest that you go to a dealership and ask to drive another car like yours ..... just to compare.

If the other car's shifter doesn't rattle you have another piece of information to support your concern.

If the other one "rattles", most likely that's just the nature of the beast.

My guess is that the exhaust is misaligned and hitting someplace at certain RPMs.

On my '17 had some shifter rattle too and aftermarket Reverse thing. Took them off and wrapped everything with some thread seal tape. Also the top decal on top of the stock shift knob is not glued that great got some epoxy up inside of it. That with a louder exhaust haven't noticed anything since
