Turbo 86 drivability tune issues

Hi all,

After 6 long months of planning, my car is finally boosted with a Sydney motorsport engineering borg Warner EFR6258 turbo kit.

It's been custom dyno tuned through ecutek with flex fuel and all is well under load but myself and my tuner are trying to sort out some niggling issues,

I know this is something the tuner should be responsible for but I'd love for some input from the community to possibly narrow down the source of issue to make things easier for all and maybe even help someone else out with this info

I'll list the things which I feel need attention;

- on throttle blip, the rpm dips slightly before the engine revs. I feel that it might be a tip in enrichment or lack thereof, there are no vacuum leaks of any kind, that's been made certain

- when the car is warm started, it starts then almost hesitates for a millisecond at 1200 (similar to throttle blip dip) then raises to startup rpm. Not really sure how to approach this one

- cold start rpm sits at 2500, the timing has been advanced to normal to quiet down the starts, perhaps that's an issue? Maybe we should drop it back to -7 like waynos? Whats an ideal startup rpm and for what duration?

-itd be great if anyone had any throttle maps for ecutek, something similar to oft would be great. We're jumping between too sensitive to truck mode dead pedal tables heh,

-if anyone has any other misc ecutek tables that help with drivability or aid cooling (i.e. fan tables) that'd be aweesome

Thanks in advance

Any standard tables in opensource roms should translate ot ecutek tables.

Do you have bigger port injectors ?

check the port scaling and the injector latency tables

cold start rpm will go high if you dont reduce the maf offset after start table values at low coolant temps, even if you set base idle values low

try changing the pi/di ratio tables to fun 100% direct injection at low loads say to 0.3 load ie zero in tables cold/warm/hot

car will always start on 100% port

Steve, thanks for that, it makes perfect sense.

Yeah I'm running Deatchwerks 700cc injectors.

So startup behaviour is dictated by not only target idle rpm tables but also the MAF Correction AFTER START table. I imagine if we copy over both tables from OFT, it should be a good baseline to refine off

As the car transition to mode 2 (not cold start) it is a little abrupt with the change rather than it auto blipping and dipping slowly like a stock vehicle. Is this something that can be refined?

Is the PI/DI table an independent table? so if that gets changed, in theory its not going to alter fueling (unless we run out of DI, but thats impossible at 0.3 load)

And Injector latency could be responsible for the rpm dip at throttle blip? I feel like port scaling would have been played with already with the load tuning side of things and probably cant be touched

again, thanks so much in advance

If the port injector scaling is correct and in balance with direct injection then latering the pi\di ratio wont effect fueling unless one system runs out of capacity, think that impossible at 0.3 load.

Injector latency is the compensation for how long it takes the port injectors to fully open and deliver rated fuel delivery. The injectors should have come with some base latency values, but you might need to fine tune it.

Yeah maf correcion after start is like choke in old cars enrichens mixture for a short time after start. Dont think oft guys touched it.
Something like this

And just set you base idle tavled to about 1200-1400 max
