What do you think about this idea...

Even though I've had my car for less than a month, the bottom edge of the driver's door already has some light marks where my shoes had brushed against it as I enter/exit. I've had this happen on other low-to-the-ground cars I have owned. I was thinking of getting some sort of clear plastic wrap with adhesive on the back, (like maybe some sort of shelf paper) and covering the area that is getting scuffed.
When the plastic wrap gets scuffed, it could be peeled off and replaced. Any adhesive residue would need to be cleaned off, obviously.
What do you think and any ideas as to the type of wrap to use?

I had this on my Elise. It goes a ways in protecting the paint but you'll always have that visible plastic there. It's a toss-up either way. :)

Im sure 3M has something that could help you with this. I know on the Tundra the dealership has an add-on that adds a layer of film over edges that they are worried might get dings (edges of doors, inside of the door handles where there are always scratches, etc).

Im assuming there is nothing that can get these out? I have one on mine and cant get it out :(

You can use clear contact paper. Check your local solar store in the kitchen section. I got a smaller roll there.

If it's really a scratch, i.e. it isn't just a mark but a change in texture, you can't really do anything about it.
Best you can do is minimize it's maybe visibility with some interior detailing sprays.

Sounds like a job for clear adhesive Mylar film. Its basically Scotch Tape material that is available thicker and with a much stronger adhesive back. I get it for my other hobby.

Currently I have a little square of the stuff on my xB to protect the paint where I have a magnetic sat. radio over the A pillar.

Yeah, I've been thinking about this too.

I might just buy some cheap vinyl wrap off Craigslist, spray it with Plasti-Dip, or go as nuts as Plasti-Dip plus truck-liner spray on top.

I told my dealer to leave all transport protective films in place and I would remove them when I picked up my BRZ.The door thresholds and door panels had a clear film that would be perfect for this. I removed it after taking car home.

I'm super careful when getting in and out of my car. So far I've not scuffed anything but since car is so low and I'm an old fart:thumbup: it is hard for me getting in and out. But I would love to get some of this stuff just to cover a couple of areas that I might brush my shoes against.

You know what's funny? is the interior comes with clear plastic on a number of interior section when it arrives at the dealer. Mine had some left on the panels right behind the seats - i left them there so my kids could rub the plastic rather than the panel when they get in and out.

they are not the most durable.. like sticky saran wrap.. but it works!
