$3,119.82 for a full prep, priced with TRMotorsport FF10 wheels (wheel specs were definitely picked to make this the most attractive wheel for SSC) and Nexen Sur4G (I'm guessing one of the top considerations for the spec tire). Not bad at all.

Time to sell my Konis, Strano bar (hate it anyway), and Buddy Clubs. Also, to ask for TireRack gift cards for Christmas. lol

The timing couldn't have worked out more perfectly. I was going to pull the trigger on TRD parts last year for a CS build, then the announcement for DS came out so I decided to put that money back in the bank. Once DS was official, I was going to buy Konis, a sway bar, and wheels and tires from a guy for my DS build this past spring but the sale fell through with him. Summer got busy so I was about to make my purchases and then this announcement came right at the perfect time.

so is the kit really discounted? It sounds like a great way to get the stuff if it is. And a great excuse to get into autocross.

When tire rack called me and asked for my SCCA membership # and I told them I wasn't a member yet. They said the kit would cost me well over 2 grand. However, then they told me that w/o SCCA membership, they'd cancel the order...

Yep! Probably saves you at least a few hundred off of normal retail.

This is a great way of getting into autocross with a Twin, especially if you don't already have mods you'll need to remove in order to be SSC legal.

Good thing an SCCA membership is cheap enough to still make it worthwhile. ;)

In Washington DC region it was debatable as you had to make every event. Missing one you were at a loss. This works out well.

Now that you mention it the SCCA would probably just go and ban my car from all competition. Aftermarket clutch, lightweight flywheel, carbon driveshaft, lighter wheels. Have they mandated full interiors? Oh well it was a nice thought.

Maybe for regional membership, which can cost additional dues. They should have no influence over your national membership, which is where your card actually comes from. That's a $70 annual fee.

Yep, you'd definitely be out of spec. Not banned from all competition, just in a class with much more powerful cars.

Doesn't mean you can't go play though! Go to an event and just have some fun. :)

SCCA membership is not the same as a season pass for your local chapter. Out here, you typically break even buying the season pass if you miss one event, but you can also just pay each event separately.

Your SCCA membership gets you member pricing here even if your region is elsewhere... You're just not in the trophy contention.

Go play. Hope no one properly prepped shows up, and talk to the competitors in... well, nowhere really, that's a bunch of odd mods. Should be legal in SM still.

Every group has some sort of non-compete class, go slide your car around. Also check out other local clubs like Porsche, Lotus, BMW, maybe some other car club or a 3rd party autox group, they typically get way more runs out here than SCCA for the same price and sometimes they have a more laid back, welcoming atmosphere.

Everybody gets their panties in a twist but unless your wheels are too big I doubt you'd run a competitive STX time, let alone SM, hell without the right tire compound you'll probably get blown away by street class cars unless you can drive the wheels off the thing. I know, I have that happen to me cause I'm not a good enough driver yet and there's some wicked fast locals here.

Hell I've seen supercharged 86's show up and not put up times competitive with street class cars. It's all about that nut behind the wheel, and tires.

Go try it, if you get bit by the bug you'll find a way to be competitive. Put the interior back, swap out clutch/flywheel/driveshaft, trade the wheels if they're the wrong size (lighter wheels allowed in all classes), buy the right tires and have an existential crisis about the money you're spending. idk none of your mods sound like they're 'must haves', I wouldn't even do them if I was building an unlimited class car (except the interior gutting and maybe the wheels depending on the size).
