Make my BRZ sound like a WRX?

I did do a search, so I apologize if I missed a 400-page thread about this already...

Taking into account NA vs turbo, is there any reason our cars can't have that sweet flat-four burble that lots of tuned WRXs have? There are a WAAAAY too many exhausts out there to listen to sound clips to decide, so I'm hoping the community already has a ready answer.

This car is so fun to drive with the windows down, so I'd like a more Subaru-appropriate soundtrack.

Thanks in advance!

It's easy: Get an unequal length header.

I suggest looking at UEL headers. Wrx sounds like it does because the manifold is not an equal length type.

And here I thought the sound was significantly influenced by the turbo...

Bullshit, how can you search and *not* find the answer to this question lol. Seriously tho, as others have said, pick any UEL header - doesn't have to do with being a flat four, has to do with the header configuration.

Buy a WRX.

Tomei 60s. Trust me, sounds just like a wrx. I got so many compliments

Well, I did about 4-5 searches with different terms, hence my disclaimer at the beginning. I didn't want to beat a dead horse, just trying to find the answer. Thanks.

Genius. Pure genius.

I already have a Golf R, or I would have probably bought an STI HyperBlue.

Although the stock manifold is every so slightly unequal length, you need a true UEL header to pronounce the noise. And then pick your flavor for other exhaust mods, to make it as quiet/loud as you would like. My car has a pretty pronounced rumble to it.

Great info. Thank you! I'm looking forward to getting the mod train rolling...

UEL for sure, but TBH it still does not sound 100% like a WRX/STi (I believe the newer WRX has EL headers now?). you get the rumble from low RPM's to around 4k but then it screams like a normal 4 cylinder. I think the turbo plays a big role in creating the rumble too in a UEL setup

That actually sounds preferable. Hopefully I'll find a nice setup.
