How bad is it dailying at 220-230F to work?

As title states, also boosted as well. Is there any long time damage running at those temps since SoCal temps are so high atm.

Can you provide ambient temp rather than engine coolant/oil?

mav1178 08-11-2017 04:19 AM

Let's ask a different question:

what makes you think these engine oil temps are bad?

VR4EVER 08-11-2017 10:41 AM

It's not bad? I assume you run synthetic oil...? It's fine. It's also normal for a boosted twin with no oil cooler. That's exactly how hot mine gets every day.

You are fine.

A friend of mine was pretty happy to see 170* oil temps (he has an oil cooler) on an NA car while DD'ing.

It's hot as hell here in Texas but I just make sure not to book it at every stop light/ on ramp.

yes.

is this after the cooler or before?

Trueweltall 08-12-2017 05:07 PM

I was just agreeing with you. 170 is too cold. I like to see 220.

guybo 08-12-2017 07:49 PM

If the temp never gets over 170, he's damaging his engine- slowly, but surely. Oil has to get up to temp.
