I made a little progress today.
I installed the front timing chain cover. I was able to press on the superdamper hub. Bolted the damper, spacer, and supercharger pulley onto the hub. I was going to bolt the flywheel on, but apparently the Spec supertwin clutch kit didn't include flywheel bolts. I ordered the flywheel bolts, and the flywheel locking tool. I need the tool to install the harmonic balancer center bolt. After the harmonic balancer crank bolt is in I can install the oil pump drive mandrel in front of the supercharger pulley. It bolts into the last 3 open holes on the damper assembly. |

I got the damper buttoned up. I used a fly wheel holding tool. I wouldn't recommend installing the front crankshaft bolt without one. I used the old flex plate with the tool just in case it screwed up the ring gear. The tool was made well, and fit was perfect.

About ready to measure to see if bell housing is centered to the crankshaft. Still need to torque everything down to spec, then get my readings. I will post up measurements I get and if I had to get offset dowel pins, and what offset I needed

I measure the offset of the bearing race to crankshaft centerline. It's not out enough to buy dowel pins .005 I adjusted the dial indacator, and magnetic stand. After adjustment I remeasured, it fell to a consistent .002 I called that good it's in spec

I ordered ARP flywheel bolts for my SPEC Supertwin clutch kit they wouldn't work. The original bolts have a 15mm head size with a 19mm flange formed under the bolt head. The ARP bolts had a 19mm 12 point head that once was tightened down was recessed into the fly wheel with no room for a socket to go into the recess with it. I ordered a set of ITC billet flywheel bolts that were made like the factory units. They worked with my flywheel, and are higher strength.

I installed the SPEC Supertwin clutch, bell housing, and transmission midplate. I got all the measurements to check the through out bearing air gap. I need a 0.33 shim. I ordered a shim pack so I can get everything dialed in, and bolted together next week hopefully.

this things gonna be a monster

Thanks, I hope it is.

Not much progress lately. I received the slave cylinder shims, and installed them. Next will be to mount the engine, and transmission together. After that slide it in the car, and adj firewall and trans tunnel until I like the fitment. I am also going to order the 8.8 rearend kit while I'm at it. That way I can set my driveline angle and not have to worry about it changing because of a rearend swap later down the road.

I received a front bash bar made by Street Faction for Christmas from my girlfriend today. I ran parts from Street Faction on my S14 Silvia, and loved them. They are more established now, and putting more personal touches in the design now.

From looking at other swaps it looked like I needed to remove 2 more brackets in the tunnel. So I did that today. Hopefully I can get the motor and trans mated together, and sitting in the engine compartment.

I ordered a stand alone LT4 harness from http://www.swaptimeusa.com awesome to do business with. Mitch does genIV and genV stand alone conversion harnesses using new oem units.
