Tomei Type 80 vs Revolution RS
Considering getting one of those exhausts for my 86 relatively soon. Thoughts on the two and which one is preferred and why. Also I plan on getting F.I down the road, so I'm conflicted on which one to get.

You'll need to take a holistic view of the exhaust: headers-back. You mention forced induction, and I'm sure you know this: increasing PSI yields a larger, more turbulent airflow through the engine and exhaust. How the exhaust is handled at the header is key.
Taking the type of forced induction into consideration: if you opt for turbo charging, are you rocking a recirculating wastegate or dumping to atmosphere? Long story short: if you’re building to squeeze every ounce of power out of the FA20, mind the minutia, otherwise: personal preference Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I've researched these 2 as well as the HKS, and ended up with the HKS.
1) Tomei has some rattle issues and is basically 2x the price of the other two 2) Greddy doesnt play nice with the stock style front pipe, so you need an adapter. 3) HKS fits the stock style front pipe without issues, is also 3", and was cheaper than the other two. |

The hks is cheaper because it's lower quality metal.

Really want to know what the Type 80 is like for owners who have it Please :)

I have the Greddy Revo RS and I absolutely love it. Compared to my fiance's Invidia N1 it's more aggressive and a tad bit louder. There isn't much of a drone at cruising speeds compared to the N1, as well. The only complaint I have was on the installation. The mount next to the muffler/ tip was a challenge getting onto the exhaust hanger. Also, the fitment on the connection to the stock front pipe wasn't great. Had to REALLY torque everything down for no leaks. All worth it, though. Once it's fully broken in you're complimented with some nice crackles and pops, especially on a rev-matched downshift.
