Clips that secure wiper/cowl. Remove and getting spares.
2 Attachment(s)
I'd like to remove my cowl and wiper arms to do some cleaning.
1) How do I remove that square clip? 2) Anyone know the part number so I can order spare round clips? Both pics are attached. |
Common Subaru size nylon rivets and a removal tool:

I found pictures of the square clip
91486-KJ010 Looking at my photo above, I think the white underpart needs to be pried apart to allow the black prong to slip up. Pry the white base with one hand, while prying the black square up? https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....4L._SX355_.jpg |
Yeah it looks that way...I've taken off (and broken) plenty of clips but none had that extra retainer piece. Looks like pieces 91486B and C in this picture:
http://parts.subaru.com/a/Subaru_201...10-920-01.html At least they're cheap if you wind up having to break them off  |
Yea, that's them.
While we're on this topic, why are there two part numbers in your link? I think 91486KJ000 is the official part number, so what is 91486B? |
Looking more closely at the photo, I am now thinking maybe the white base does not detach from the black square top. It almost looks like the white base has tabs that can be compressed, and the whole thing is removed as a unit? Because it really seems weird to have to pry the white slots apart.

Not sure...from the picture it looks like the white retainer piece is a separate part. I went and looked at mine and I'm not seeing why it's even there, lol. Doesn't seem to be actually connected to anything but itself.
|
Yes, the white is a separate part.
There is a shelf thing that the cowl connects to, but covers do you can't see it. If you're curious, wriggle the cowl and look under, or just feel that there are 2 layers. |
I finally got around to removing the square cowl pins.
As I suspected in post #6, the black and white parts do not separate once clipped together. The trick, if you look at the photos, is that you need to squeeze the tangs on the white part below. Once compressed, you can push the entire combination up thru the hole. https://image.prntscr.com/image/OJR1...AmWF-RJGNQ.png |
