I've sold my GT86!

I drop it off to the dealer Thursday evening.

I traded it in for....

A NEW GT86 Pro! w/ wing and leather interior.

In the fastest colour of course... red.

Costing me, after exchange rate from GBP... $37000!

So the difference between standard and Pro in UK is leather, push button start and wing?

Difference is the wing, leather interior and about 1.5k GBP. The original 2012 model was 1.something k more expensive with the leather interior anyway.

All UK models have always had all the mod cons as standard, HIDs, Keyless, Aircon, touchscreen head unit, dual climate, folding/heated mirrors etc. etc. except the Primo special ed, but I think they only sold like 26 of those.

As to why... My GT86 has had it's fair share of niggles and issues, some of them have been completely fixed, some keep coming back, some I doubt they will ever fix fully, some are apparently "characteristics" like knocking pedal rail on rough road.

Getting the dealer to fix these issues properly is like getting blood out of a stone. Getting another garage to fix them will be expensive.

I wanted a fresh one and hope I get luckier. The deposit was paid for by my work bonus this year and the monthly's are the same. So net I lose the depreciation again. <shrug> Why not?

Oh and TRACK MODE! Lets you act even more like a teenager but still (hopefully) saves your ass when you screw up more than you intended.

Congrats, maybe swap to the older front bumper?

Toyota needs to make more variants of this car. It's a BRZ Limited in the US, correct? Or whatever Toyota calls it here.

Yup, I was looking at the new 86 in Japan a few weeks ago. (but congratulations!)

So I picked it up last night!

Keeping it under 4k is torture, but there was 5 miles on the clock. 52 miles today, so I still need to baby it for a while and introduce it to higher revs only occasionally and gradually.

Definitely handles differently. Turn in seems sharper and the car seems to move around more before actually sliding. Too hard to tell properly with the RPM limit imposed.

Track mode is definitely different to VSC Sport. Again hard to really know without red lining it yet, but from a few tentative attempt to provoke it it seems to actually try and help you power slide gracefully rather than SNAP it back straight agressively.

Beautiful! I'm always jealous of that red every time I see it!

Glad to hear the nannies are better, I rather think the (2013) stability control is a bit violent and could see how that might be bad at high speeds.
