Synchrotech Carbon Synchronizer Upgrade Kit!

We are really excited to share the news with everyone! We can't wait for these to be available!

We are starting a pre-order group-buy to aid Synchrotech in the tooling costs for bringing an entire 1-6, carbon synchro upgrade kit to market for our cars! If you’re interested, the group-buy is located here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120458

What is better about these synchros than OEM?
*Carbon Fiber Lining
*Brass Body
*Improved Performance
*More Surface Contact
*Smoother Shifts
*Improved Oiling

“Unlike the carbon/moly synchros that have a spray coating, Synchrotech Pro Series Carbon Synchros have a full carbon composite lining. Utilizing carbon-carbon technology, initially developed for the Aerospace industry, our carbon composite material acts as a braking material during gear engagement. This allows for quicker and more precise shifting while prolonging the life of the synchro sleed and gear engagement teeth. We are proud to off the most technologically advanced synchros on the market.” – Synchrotech

What can we expect from synchros like these?
*Improved Engagement
*Improved Synchro Life
*Improved shifting
*Reduced gear teeth wear

Timeframe and Development:
Synchrotech is estimating to have production ready around the end of October, if everything goes well. That gives everyone a good amount of time to get on board with the pre-order group buy and save money!

David @ Synchrotech is getting us a set to try out in our billet gearset. These should arrive in a few weeks and I will be taking product photos as well as installed photos. I will also post up a review on driving feel/performance/etc in this thread as well!

Cost:
Extremely reasonable at $300 for the set!

Questions:
If you have any questions, please ask below. If I cannot answer the question myself, I will e-mail David to get an accurate and correct answer as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Eric

Pretty neat - I'm looking forward to watching the development process and hearing user reviews! Thanks Eric for the great products - I certainly love my Velox carbon fiber driveshaft!

This is awesome. Love the aftermarket support. Wonder how much labor would range for installation of these...

son of a......man where were these several months ago when I installed my gearset lol. Oh well better late then never, glad these are finally going to be offered. I will probably still pick up a set for later.

I wish I could take credit for these but it's all synchrotech. I was just one of the very first to contact them. At the time I couldn't spend the money on the tooling costs, which are quite expensive. Luckily he saw the need and has moved forward!

I know your pain . Luckily I'm pretty good at tearing these things down at this point :barf:.

I believe book time is something like 6 hours for a complete R&R on the transmission (once out of the car)? Someone can and will probably correct me but I think that is what one of my friends at a dealership said.

Thanks,
Eric

I think it's 4 hours with trans out of the car and 6 hours if they remove the trans.

Looks sexy!

@VeloxEric

Just think of the weight saving!

Once the gearbox is back together and you take the car out for a test flogging what's the next step in development (if any)?

VerusEric 09-25-2017 10:21 PM

Well, looks like I didn't grab a picture of 6th gear going back together. My bad. It looks the same as all the others though haha.

So the trans is back in the car and shifting great. Please give me a week or two to get some more miles on the car before I voice my opinion. So far, it feels good.

No other step in mind currently.

Thanks,
Eric
