Vivid Racing

Ordered custom Forgestar wheels through Vivid Racing 3 months ago. I had been in contact with Adam who works there and he told me my wheels would be shipping soon and saying that they had already gone though the color process, Forgestar just needed confirmation as to what car they would be going on to make sure they would fit. Adam has ignored me since June 14th (calls & emails) so today (JULY 18th) I finally called the main office and was told that the wheels HAVEN'T EVEN GONE THROUGH PRODUCTION YET and that I would have to wait another 8-12 weeks before they would even be shipped. If they haven't even been made yet I don't understand how Adam claimed that they couldn't color match correctly and we had to go through the process of changing them to a color I didn't originally pick. Spent over $3,000 to be lied to and ignored... GREAT customer service....not.

Post this in the vender review section.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. You should move this to the Vendor Feedback section so more people can see.

Just personal experience, if someone you're ordering from can't give you a specific shipping time(or at least a good estimate) and just says "soon", you should cancel your order immediately. They'll twist the truth to extremes to avoid refunding you.

Two sides to every story, but then again, neither of Vivid Racing's accounts are vendor accounts anymore.

Gotta say, at least you're patient, unlike some people...

If they had actually been through the colour process then they should already know if they will fit. This statement alone would have set off every alarm bell I have.

I'm brand new to the car world so I had no idea but now that I've talked to a few people I agree I should have caught that :(

It's easy to make mistakes buying car parts with all the different brands and all the different vendors selling them. A custom order like yours almost always has its issues along the way just because of how specific it is. For future custom orders, try to order directly through the brand itself instead of using a middle man if possible.

While this stuff here sounds shady, that is not always true with custom parts, especially custom wheels. Some custom order wheels can take forever, especially if the factory is in another country.

I'm not sure if OP ever wants to special order a set of wheels from Rays... 4-6 months is a normal lead time for those.

I think it was less the wait time and more the miscommunication

Oh but we are making assumptions on who is giving the proper information.

This automotive aftermarket industry is still run with very poor communication/controls overall. The normal business concepts that apply elsewhere in other industries don't apply as much here.

I would know, I've been involved since 1998.

Exactly why would they color the wheels before verifying fitment
