Can we get a run-down of the route? I'm just curious what route we're taking. How do I tag someone.. @PMok...? Is that how I do it? I don't know how forums actually work.

I am going to be a little late due to too much drinking last night LOL... and waiting for the wife. Sorry guys, the timetable will be pushed back a little. Anticipated we will not roll out from the Almaden area until 1PM or so. Sorry for the delay.

The route is generally this: south on Almaden, hit some backroads past a reservoir, eventually connect up to Hecker Pass 152 to watsonville.

Lol. Cool. Decent group already here outside. We came in to get something to eat, though. We'll be ready to go.

How does this drive compare to 9?

PMok 07-23-2017 02:26 AM

Thanks to everyone who came out... including a few non-86s that joined us for the trip I think we counted 20 cars total. Apologies again for the delayed start, I realize many of you got there on time and were standing around in the hot sun for a while waiting for stragglers to arrive, and others to get gas, and then people going for coffee runs... sorry to do that to you. Most of our drives start a little later than planned and that's usually OK but this one felt a little too disorganized. I hope it all worked out for you guys and you were able to enjoy the pie and other treats once we got there.

I didn't take many pics today, here is one I got just before we arrived at Gizdich Ranch.

Biggest disappointment had to be the fact that they sold out of the Dutch Apple pie... :mad0260: but I guess that is a good reason to plan another trip out there soon.

Pie run was great. Wife and I had a great time. We had fresh strawberry pie for breakfast this morning, yum.

It's like 95% highway 35 + 5% highway 9, with narrower and worse condition roads. Still worth it for the pie.

Looking forward to next year already! That was a seriously good piece of blackberry pie.

Good group to go with, too! Traffic got us split from the group and we made a wrong turn. Luckily Ricky's FRS stood out in our mirror, so we could flip around and catch back up.

See ya at the next meet-up!
