Vehicle registration renewal sticker shock

For those of you living around the Seattle region and are subject to the ST3's new taxes, the renewal fee skyrocketed, if you haven't found out already.

Mine is $358.75

Please comfort me...

Welcome to our (UK) world.

You'll be able to sit down in a couple of days...:)

King County is the worst. Just moved up here from Portland. It could be worse though, the new tax is based on the MSRP of your car, so luckily these cars are so cheap. I've heard of someone paying over $1K for a Z06.

Being in pierce where we voted no makes it hurt just that much more.

Brutal, I live just outside the RTA zone. Mine was 68 bucks all in.

Mine was a $135 increase YoY. Ditto for being in Pierce county.

King County voters have never met a tax they didn't like.

I know that pain.

Sticking it out for a couple more years here then I'll see where I want to move to.

I think road tax, vehicle tax or whatever it's called should be based on mileage. the number miles driven = charge and it can be easily collected through a duty added to fuel so you pay at the pump..

This. They need to weight tax related votes based on the income of the voter, might help.

I Remember in 2000 when car registration was lowered to $30... That didn't last long.
