Trunk not working

I opened my trunk up about a day after I bought the car to load some groceries in it.

Now just after about 300 miles on the car both the trunk button inside the car and the remote do not open the trunk.

Anyone else have this problem?

I figure I can get the new ECU to turn off my DRLs at the same time but just disappointed a brand new car already has a problem like this.

There's a button on the driver side to cancel the trunk from opening. There's a key hole next to the license plate lights to manually open in case you can't open the trunk. Open it up and verify the button isn't depressed, locking out the trunk access.

Why this hasn't been made a sticky - I'm not sure.

Kind of funny, the dealer was showing me the car when I was buying mine and he ran into this. "There's lots of trunk space too! See... *press* hm.. *press press*" I had already read about it and showed him the keyhole, opened it, toggled the switch and showed him it worked afterwards. "Well, you seem to know enough about the car!" Yes, I just wanted to take it home!

Yep, that was it. Something in my trunk went sliding and hit it. I don't even understand the point of that button and have never heard of any other car having one but thanks for the info!

It's most likely for instances when you valet your car or something like that

^^This.

You can put stuff in your trunk and the Valet can't get to them without the metal key (which you keep).

Subaru fans will know about the Subaru steering column switch. I think this is going to be the equivalent.

Lots of cars have this. It's sometimes a key lock by the driver's side door, or sometimes a button in a lockable glove compartment. As noted below, its so you can give the valet key which came with the car to a Valet, and they can't go snoping through your car for easy pickings.

The valet has your key. Car burglars do not.

This happened to me the other day.

I had a plastic bag with a grapefruit in it and when I slowed down the handle of the plastic bag tugged the emergency release handle inside the trunk.

Pain in the butt.
Just glad I wasn't on the highway.

There was nothing in my trunk.. It just told me I had a door open so while I was at a stop sign opened and closed all the doors and the light was still on so I checked my trunk and it was open. This happened the day before but I noticed before I started my car. Weird.

whew... I was just about to call the subaru dealer. Thanks for posting this! I must have been taking a corner too hard, and something in my trunk slid and pressed the button.

I just dropped my car off at the dealership for this and the chirping issue. No clue why I didn't think to look up this issues sooner.

Thanks!
