Photo Bucket causing problems in clasifieds

Someone need to start telling people who host images on photo bucket to move to another hosting site.

Photo Bucket is now demanding money to show your photos on 3rd party sites like this one.

SOOOO many for sale threads with no pictures, just a message that says to upgrade to host.

Yeah, is there a reason why people aren't using imgur?

I think it's just not well known. So easy to use.

Oh lol I was legit curious, I didn't know if PB was better or what not. I feel like IMGUR is pretty simple to use, just drag and drop a picture. Don't even need an account.

It's way less obtrusive.

I wonder how it bodes for pb in the long run.

Yeah IDK.
Been using photo bucket since its inception.
2003-2004
Seems like is time to switch.

This needs to be known for the whole site. Sitting in this sub, this knowledge will get no views and people will keep posting from photobucket.
I was about to post it under "Photos, Videos, Wallpapers, Gallery Forum" but came in here to see if somebody mentioned it at all.
It really should be a sticky in the general forums since everybody gets in there.

why? 07-11-2017 09:44 AM

i never understood why people used photobucket. There are so many different image hosting sites out there.

I'd think its almost mass message worthy.

I have been using Flickr for years now. Super easy to use and 1 TB of space for free.

I just downloaded all of my images from Photobucket and deleted my account. I've started using a service called postimage.io which advertises it's service for usage on forums and the like. I like the minimalist interface and there is no need to make an account but I did anyway to make it easier to keep track of my images. Unfortunately, I've got some 200 odd images to move and links to edit/restore so it will take me a while to get even just my build thread updated.

brandonblt2 07-27-2017 03:27 PM

Yea I just noticed that they started charging today. And guess on how much they want, $400 up front or $39.99 per month!! It's like they are trying to get people to stop using it.

"Tradition"

I used to use Photobucket back in the early 2000s. There was no Imgur or even Flickr back then. No Dropbox, no Google Drive, etc.

Photobucket was actually pretty good back then, it had like one ad on the page, and thats it. Other sites back then had pop-ups and intrusive ads everywhere.
