2015 STI vs 2015 WRX

I'm in the market for one of these and with all the threads that I read, a great majority of the WRX owners said that the cost difference of around $10k couldn't be justified for the STI or it's the engine change.

Thing is, the second-hand prices of the '15-'16 STIs are LOWER than '15-'16 WRXs.

Would it be dumb to buy a more expensive WRX over the cheaper STi? Let's also assume condition/mileage are all the same.

Thoughts?

Are you going to track the car at all?

I don't know anything about second hand 15+ WRXs being LESS than second hand 15+ STIs. I still see 15 STIs going for 30k+

I made a thread about this a while back: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91845

Any plans on track time? And I mean SERIOUS plans. Not "Oh I might track it a couple times a year". I mean "Yes I'm going to track the car a few times a year for sure".

If the answer is yes, STI. If it is not, WRX.

The WRX is simply the better every day car. More quiet/comfortable. Softer suspension. Better fuel economy. Better powerband for daily commute, etc. You get like 85% of the performance of an STI with the WRX, but a nicer daily driver.

Choice is yours

I was looking into this option before the FRS as well

STI- More advance AWD system, More Power, Better brakes

WRX- new FA20 Motor is great on fuel efficiency.

But if I was to purchase one, It would be the STI because that's the car i grew up drooling over.

Buy it right the first time and so you dont have any regret.

This is the Canadian, specifically, the Ontario market.

Quite honestly If the STI was more expensive than the WRX, I wouldn't even consider the STi right now. But because it's somehow cheaper, it becomes a serious contender.

I'm going to take a look at your thread and hopefully it'll help me a bit more.

I owned a 16 WRX and a 15 STi - the 15 STI was MUCH better.

Where are you shopping that STis are cheaper than WRXs?

Everything I can find shows the WRX to be around $25K to $28K but STis start at about $38K and go up from there.

If you can pick up sub $25K 15-16 STis you best go grab a couple and make yourself some cash.

The prices are very close. If you compare some of the vehicles, the STi is even cheaper. When I was shopping maybe a month ago, the STi prices were lower.

I believe you're comparing Sport and Base packages of the WRX to the Sport-Tech STi.

I'm looking at Sport Tech for both.
