2017 Splash Screen Hack?

1 Attachment(s)
I'd love to change the splash screen on my 2017.

Has anyone had success changing it like the 2013-2016 models?

DOG TAX!

He's like my BRZ. Short suspension and slow but lots of fun!

I too, am waiting for someone to share their trick to changing the splash screen. I used the search bar, no answers for the past hour. ^Bumpitybump

At the moment this appears to be strictly a Subaru capability for the pre-facelift cars, and more specifically for those that have the head unit with nav. Whatever software Toyota runs in the FR-S for the head unit does not allow splash screen changes, so it's not a solution across the board for all 13-16 cars, just for the BRZs.

Have they done a similar thing now with the 17 cars to where you can't make changes? What's the brand and model of the head unit in your car?

I've been meaning to talk to someone aty Toyota dealer to see if there is a setting they can mess with or if they can maybe put the 17 Toyota 86 version of the software on previous Scion units (just so I can get a Toyota splash screen instead of a Scion one if I still can't change the screen altogether). Keep forgetting to when I pay them a visit. I think I'm going to go see them just to pick brains about this rather than try to remember while I'm having other work done.

"What's the brand and model of the head unit in your car?"

That's a good question. I will have to dig deeper into the settings. The 2017 BRZ infotainment does not have the SD card slot like the others, but it does have a USB connector. There has to be a way to update the software on the device. I doubt Subaru gets the HU from the manufacturer already programmed. Maybe.

Currently they display the StarLink splash screen and the "No fiddling with this while driving warning screen."

Might have to pull the unit and eyeball it. Or swap out the unit. The wife doesn't like the HD radio. I've been meaning to check to see if it is powering the antenna since the reception is so poor.

This sounds like a fun winter project.

There's no identifying info on the face of it? Mine is a Pioneer (logo in the bottom right corner of the bezel) and the model is AXLP-Q16U T10071 (shown bottom left corner)

I don't expect them to have changed who supplies their stock units, but of course there's no guarantees there. Anyway, in my case with that model and with Toyota's Scion version of their software on it I can't do anything on mine. I think up to model year 14 or 15 people were able to, but the capability was lost when they went to the larger screen units (and probably because they wanted people messing with these as little as possible). But for Subaru I believe you do/did have a menu option on the non-nav equipped versions to let you upload an image via the USB port. I remember seeing or reading about that method somewhere.

This web site discusses Subaru equipment.

Since our equipment is different (CA645UL) it won't be much help I'm afraid. Of course my stereo isn't here either. :(
