Ghost Passenger

Have a 2015 FR-S, car thinks that there is a person on the passenger seat (seat indicator shows x2) and get the idiot buzzer with one person in the car. We've replaced the module under the seat as well as taped on a different sensor on top of the seat cushion. These "Fixes" have fixed it for a day or two and then it comes back. Anyone else experience this?

Is your phone on the seat?

Do you place moist items on your passenger seat? Aka groceries?
You should take a peek at the manual. It might help you out.

There is NOTHiNG on the seat, that's the issue (ZERO weight).

The sensor doesn't use weight to determine presence in the seat.
If you have your phone, something wet on the seat or a person (or possibly many other things) it essentially closes the circuit, which in turn makes the car think something or someone is in the seat.

Have you checked your back seat?

Just the phone cord will do it. It uses an electrical field sensor not a weight activated switch. I washed my windows once and the damp paper towel left on the seat was all it took to set it off.

None of the above. We have 2 twins (BRZ and FR-S) and it's just the FR-S that's the issue. Car is empty and it happens every time (phone or no phone).

Time to perform an exorcism on the car.

Get a blank seatbelt clip and plug it in?

I use one when I take the dog in the car. Pennies on eBay

SuperTom 06-29-2017 09:17 PM

Well this explains my car going nuts everytime I put my phone on the passenger seat
