OEM horn upgrade?
So doing some scouring on ebay just for random interior / accessories, I came across an OEM horn upgrade set (2015+) for STi, part # H3717VA010
Pic not mine: http://i.imgur.com/R7jyIP8.jpg So, what's up with these? Do they sound good? |
Quite frankly, I cannot see any reason to upgrade your horn. Is there a viable reason?

@winstonscifi I'm just curious how they sound. Some people do change their horns for different, louder sounds but I'm not intending on modding it right now.

Back in the 60's there was a beep-beep sound on a horn for a Plymouth Road Runner as I recall. What kind of sound could be interesting for our cars - very loud cricket sound?! That might sell pretty good!

They'll be dual tone.
500 and 400hz. Don't look like they'll need a relay so a simple fit if that's yer bag. |

I added a few FIAMM horns from the junkyard and it makes a world of difference. |

I also am of the opinion the horns aren't particularly, um, ...assertive? I don't really know how to describe it. They are more than adequate but don't particularly stand out. Perfectly ok for a budget sports car.
Rad, from looking at the pictures I expect those will have a more throaty actual horn sound. 400Hz and 500Hz are a nice friendly pair instead of the dissonant sound of the oem one. I made this clip. I know it sounds like a dial tone. Just consider the pitch. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2K8tJREA2Aw"]400Hz+500Hz - YouTube[/ame] |

I don't think I've used I've used a vehicle horn more than half a dozen times in forty years of riding/driving. |

I primarily use it for letting other drivers know I'm there when it is apparent they don't. |
