30000 Mile Service Check Up

I would like some opinions about this. I am closing in on the 30000 mile mark on my brz and I called Subaru to get a quote on the cost of a check up. They're telling me the whole thing will cost 610 bucks but the only things they would be replacing is the brake fluid, an oil change, filling up my coolant and washer , and replacing the air filter. I feel like this is a rip off, but they also mentioned checking brakes, and a bunch of other stuff. My question is.... is it worth the 610 bucks >_<.

Not worth it

_sams86_ 06-23-2017 03:35 PM

Agree with Azzudien, you can do it all yourself for roughly $120

Also agreed. I took my car in at 30k miles and I was disappointed to hear how little maintenance they perform for how much it costs. I went home, changed my own brake fluid, engine oil, and filters for less than a quarter of the price.

pay me $120 and i will do that work lol

Pay them in Nigerian dollars

30k mile service? oh...

I guess I should re-read my owners manual. I'm at 50k now. Oil changes every 4k and that's it...

Mr.ac 06-29-2017 01:47 AM

Total rip off. Do the work yourself or take it to any other mechanic for 3/4's less.

Seriously YouTube it. Do it yourself. Unless you don't have a place or said tools. But nothing a few beers/food and a buddy with a garage would t fix.

My 30K (yes I had the dealer do it) cost $120 so not sure where their markup came from. I thought it was pretty reasonable actually.

My dealer told me about $450 and that included everything you said and a transmission and diff oil change, both intake and HVAC filter, and check a whole crap ton of stuff. I have not gotten it done yet because I'm going to do it myself I just need to find the time.

Wait till you have to pay them to put plugs in lol

You should change the brake, transmission, and differential fluid. Trust me.

Teseo 06-30-2017 02:05 PM

Trans, diff, brake, fluid change. Cabin, engine air filter as well

radroach 06-30-2017 04:05 PM

Cut out the dealership on the routine fluid maintenance, you'll save like $100 a year just doing oil changes yourself. The ramps, jack, jackstands, and tools are not that expensive. For everything else if you're not sure of servicing, then take it to the dealership.
