Quick question TRD CAI

1 Attachment(s)
I currently have the reusable TRD filter. I want to replace it with a non-reusable [drop in filter] like Wix, K&N, Fram...etc

What is the part number for the TRD CAI size filter? Or am I stuck using the reusable, because if I am, i'll just buy new one.

I remember remembering that the oem filter is not the same size as the TRD filter, righto? TRD is larger?

Research so far from 2013. Hoping recent info somewhere/someone knows.:

Not sure about a replacement filter besides the TRD, you could take measurements and probably find a suitable K&N but I have never seen anyone do it. If you do, post up your findings.

Just curious why you're not cleaning / reusing like its designed to be?

It is definitely larger than the stock airbox filter.

Yep! Says to clean every 50k or so, I do every 15k. So far x2's cleaned. Always so dusty.

Reason I kinda wanna replace, for summer at least, is due to dust where I live. Its so damn dusty and I just want my engine to breathe a little healthier. Cleaned MAF 2 months ago and man-oh-man-which it was disgustingly dusty. Dont want to shell out $250 or so for new MAF haha too.

Noticed car was struggling 2-4th shifts. Shaky for sec. Cleaned MAF, drove 38 miles one way, problem resolved. The wires were black. Time to clean filter after 8k miles itch.

I know you said non-reusable, but you also said K&N. A K&N will be pretty much identical to the one you have, except for color. If you put in your measurements, and K&N shows one, you could take the part number for it, then plug that number into the cross reference chart to see if it matches up with Fram, Wix, or something else.

I think K&N is also life-time warranty

It looks that the K&N filter doesn't do its job well. You should not have so dust in the MAF.

Opened box last night (snorkel) and found it with excessive dried mud build up. Not a ton, but enough to be a lot. My guess is it's been there from drive to AZ as there was small dust storm and rain?

Here in summer it's dust everywhere. Wash car, 5min later it's dusty. I presently live in a rural community. I'm sure filter is fine, but not for super dusty area.

When you cleaned it did you re-oil it properly? As said there should be no dust passing through it.
Changing it to something else is not going to make your engine breath any healthier.
