2018 BRZ orders

So the dealers I've been working with sold their dealer lot cars and said that 2017 orders are now closed, but 2018 orders should be open in a few weeks.

Any truth to this?

Where are you really located?

I'm in San Antonio, TX but I'm shopping in Colorado as that's where the best prices seem to be and I'm going to be up there in a couple of weeks. There are a few 17s still on the lots of the two dealerships here but they also still want silly prices for BRZs.

If 2018 orders are opening up soon I'll probably just wait for that anyway.

I would say maybe around end of summer or fall?

Lebby83 06-17-2017 09:30 PM

I was told by my dealer that in September/October they will be able to order the car.

Orders should open anytime now. Depending on on region you can normally expect to see cars on the lots in late July up to early September. Last year they were a bit later but that is the normal pattern.

Do you think Toyota follows the same pattern? Trying to decide on buying now vs waiting to see what 2018 brings. A limited trim level, perhaps?

I won't even guess at what they are up to. They were very late with releasing the 17s but may be more normal this year.
They have hinted (official statements not blogs) that they may come out with another trim level but have not said when. If they do expect it to cost you though.

I work at a Subaru dealership and to my knowledge, we haven't started taking orders for 2018 BRZ's quite yet because we don't have the brochures or any info on the colors/options/packages yet, but if you heard a couple weeks, I'm sure that's true, we just got our first 2018 WRX three days ago and we've opened up on orders for 2018 WRX's, Foresters, and maybe Outbacks.

Any updates scheduled for MY 2018 besides the tS trim? If Subaru is reading this, please add Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. Besides that, I can't imagine Subaru/Toyota adding much.

I doubt they will, but if they do I'll be pissed cuz I just got a 2017 and I'm gonna put like $1500 into a headunit with CarPlay.

The pictures of the TS from BoxerFest look like the dual know unit from the new WRX, minus the CD slot. I don't believe the new WRX has CarPlay or Android Auto. Maybe that unit will be standard across the 2018 range?

How much do you think the '17 will drop when the '18 is up for orders?

No way to predict that. It can vary by region and availability anyway. The 17s seem to already be low in availability so the law of supply and demand will probably keep the price up.
That said if there are loads in one area they may want to move the stock and give a bit of a discount.
There were people ordering new at great savings and people that could not get a single $ off so it really depends on the dealer you are working with.
