How much rasp will a catless front pipe give me?

Currently I have the Invidia N1 catback, everything else is stock. Getting headers is too expensive right now so I am going to go the cheap route for more loudness and want to get a catless front pipe.

-Will that be really raspy with my current exhaust? /Know of any catless front pipes that wont be as raspy
-Will it be much louder?
-Will it give off a gas smell?

Thanks

Sadly it will definitely introduce rasp (and added volume) with the N1 catback. I would recommend keeping your N1 setup as it is now with the stock catted FP.

As far as smell, there probably wouldn't be any noticeable difference except possibly at cold startup, but even that is debatable.

Yes it will be raspy and considerably louder. You could try a dual resonated catless front pipe to control the rasp.

I just installed the HKS dual resonated yesterday with stock header/op and Tomei 60R... It sounds mean. Definitely louder, but also a much lower note. Shifting around 3k isn't much of a difference, but above 5k it screams. Next step, Tomei UEL/OP!

Famous last words.

I really liked the change that the nameless resonated pipe with the hi-flow cat made on my car. It made it sound nice and mean, increased the volume a little bit as well--without any rasp at all. I'm not completely sure it will bolt up to the N1...but may be worth looking into as an intermediary step before getting headers if you're wanting to avoid fart noises.

save and put the money towards headers, then see how you feel about FP

it will be pretty loud at that point with your N1

in for N1's being loud. I have ft86speed catted UELs that are decatted, overpipe, catless frontpipe and the N1. 4500K above screams.. haha
