BRZ beat a 911 (subjectively)

I've always fantasized about a Porsche 911. Mostly because the flat 6 sounds and feels amazing and the coupe is the best looking car of them all. I never pulled the trigger on one, because $.

I drive a BRZ with edelbrock SC, UEL, few other minor mods.

Today I had an option to buy a well maintained 997.2 for an absolutely ridiculous price just a few $K above than what I can get for the BRZ (friend is moving out of the country in a rush).

I spent half a day driving the Porsche... and decided to pass on it. The BRZ is just so much more playful, more fun, and with an SC is not (or at least does not feel) slower. The engine (noise, refinement level) was the only category where the 911 beat the 86.

Granted, that 911 was a convertible pdk. The result could well have been different if it was a manual coupe.

TL;DR: Today I gained new appreciation for my fun, light, playful, visceral, manual sports car. We have a bright future together (and it includes e85 next).

So are you keeping now both or are you selling the BRZ?

You should have bought the Porsche...think of it with the mod list you have on your BRZ...still feel the same way? How about 15 years from now when the Porsche is still worth at least 20 grand?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should have sold the BRZ... I'm just saying you should have bought the Porsche. :party0030:

Agree. Unfortunately that was the only scenario which my wife explicitly vetoed :)

I really should have just bought the 911 and figured out how to trade it for an older, manual coupe. But there's a little too much going on in my life right now to deal with an extra project.

The 911 was instantly picked up for cash by a dealer/flipper who I'm guessing will make at least $10K on the flip.

Depending on your age, i bet your insurance would of been cheaper with the porsche.

The 911 would have been nice with a stick. PDK .... not so much.

Yeah, even though modern automatics now shift quicker I just got to have that 3rd pedal and stick shift. It just adds to the overall driving experience.

OMFG.

Only the most hopelessly delusional fanboy could come up with sh*t like this!

Flicking hilarious!

Nice contribution.

I've driven a Focus RS extensively and would take the FRS over it any day of the week, even if money wasn't an issue. Why can't someone like their car less than a seemingly 'superior' one?
