^Yeah, EXACTLY. And the fact that Honda created new air vents instead of repurposing all the fake ones is facepalm worthy.

I just don't think it's that ugly. Sure it's not pretty, and easy to criticize, but I'm a function > form kinda guy, even if some of it is fake I can live with it.

:bonk:

Sounds like out of the $35k hot hatches you're the kinda guy who'd get a Golf R.

I am generally a function over form person as well (you can't own a BMW airhead and not be that kind of person...lol), but there's only so much ugly I can justify. lol

You're not far off the mark with the Golf R prediction; I do like it's understated looks, but the fact that I've sworn I'd never own another VW again negates it as a real option. :)

This is why Mazda really should have made a current MS3. It would have been a great blend of aesthetics, performance, and functionality.

*sigh* I'm at a point in life where I have to worry about the impression that I make when pulling up to a client meeting. Sadly, the Civic Type R is not something I want to show up in.

as much as i would love that, i dont think it would compete with the type r. then again i dont think the ms3 would be in this price range either so nevermind. i want one now.

Having an 86 TRD from Toyota that matches the factory stock power from the Type R would be my dream

An it is called "Cayman"

The base price (as far as I know) for a Civic Type-R is $33.9, from the reviews I've seen of the car I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would go for a Civic Type-R over a Focus RS or a WRX.

The Civic is the lightest of all 3. The Civic is also the most economical. AWD is overkill in places where it doesn't snow.

The WRX STi doesn't have a hatchback. Its motor is ancient.

The Focus RS overheats and overall quality is probably lower than the Honda.

It is fun that in places where it does snow and AWD does provide a slight advantage most of the owners run all season tires and negate whatever advantage gained. Even a twin with snows will kick the ass of a WRX on all seasons.
The quality of the Focus is up there with anything else now. Ford has cleaned up its game in the last few years.

AWD is overkill most of the time even in places where it DOES snow. The few times it's actually fun/useful during the winter doesn't outweigh the penalty for having to drag all that extra crap around the other 7-8 months (or more..) of the year.

There was one at Thunderhill last time I ran there and the guy could drive and the car did well. I dunno though 4 doors and FWD just not my cup of tea, though.
