Intec 3rd Brake light falling

Any suggestions for my Intec 3rd brake light falling off? I've attempted to re-use the stock double sided tape, and it eventually fell off again.

Replaced it with 3M Scotch doubled sided but it's starting to droop again. Even put some in other spots to help lift it but no help. Prepped service area with some invisible glass also so it's not sticking to random dust bits.

Taking suggestions. I've tried looking for other threads but I can't seem to find them again.

I had the same issue. Instead of only one strip of double sided tape in the rear, I added another to the front as well. No issues now even in Texas heat.

This stuff can hold a spoiler on the trunk.

Use 3m adhesion promoter, and use alcohol to prepare the surface.

Did that didn't help, I put 3 small strips (size of a half dollar) on the front (towards the spoiler). California heat isn't as bad as Texas heat

Thanks! I'll try this, and probably some on my side skirt.

Hrm, didn't think of that, any negative effect on tint or glass?

malubawla 06-08-2017 08:01 PM

yeah i cleaned the window with alcohol and used my own 1" strips of 3m double sided tape

No, shouldn't have a negative affect. I would also recommend prepping the surface of the high mount housing as well.

I've had this happen to me with the original 3m that was on the brake light. All I had to do was remove and replace the old 3m with any other stronger 3m and haven't had any problems yet. I live in CA too and probably have the same heat.

I fixed it by throwing mine in the trash and buying a CDC brake light.

I personally have the high mount brake light that they sell for mustangs, and it hasn't failed me yet. Plus, it was like $50!

I'm using my own 3M, the original one fell off after a hot summer day.

I got the extra heavy duty 3m tape supposed to hold like 25lbs or something. Hasn't fallen since.
