Power mirrors inop

Maybe this a freak occurance, but my power mirrors stopped working only a few hundred miles after taking delivery. I will have it fixed at my 7500 mile service next week. Yup, that's 7500 miles in 7 weeks. :)

Looks like the power mirrors don't work if you disconnect the resistor for the DRL's. Oops. My bad!

I disconnected my DRLs as per the instructions, and my mirrors still work fine...checked this morning.

Maybe I will plug the resistor back in before I take it back in for service and see what they say.

DRLs are a configurable option via Toyota TechStream, so you can disable them via ECU software available at the dealer. Now I just hope that they don't try to call it a "mandatory safety feature that they are not at liberty to disable."

"mandatory safety feature" probably depends on the laws in your state. I think some states require them, while others don't. I read somewhere that the earlier cars don't have that option in the ECU, and that the ECU must be replaced with a later unit to make this possible. The post stated that this can be done under warranty.

My replacement ECM is on order by the dealer.
