New 200 rating tire from Yokohama

Looks like a proper R Comp (Cup tire) with a 200 rating. Yokohama A052

Unsure how it would fare with Re71R. Anyone tried / trying these out?

Looks promising except Yokos cycle out quicker.

These tires were developed during the 86/BRZ Gazoo races in Japan. They were used in dimension 205/55 16. Most of the top rated teams had the specific tire. At that time they were called A08B. It is known that they are using Yokohama's motorsports compound.

Holy shit They're expensive

I would say that they are as much close as possible to a slick tire ;)

And the reason Japanese's provided them to the rest of the world, is because they have now an even more advanced tire. As always, they keep the good stuff for themselves.

Amazing! So Hoosier level performance for street tire category

At that price I sure hope it sucks, or is at least no better than the existing alternatives. Ouch.

I ran A048s on a track car and cared for neither the tire nor the high price.

Can the Twin chassis extract the best from such a tyres? There must be a point in the tyre performance that is very dependent upon the car's and driver's capabilities.

A048 was rubbish. I did experiment with Ad08r and while it was good initially, cycled out fast.

My gripe with Yokohama is that they heat cycle out...

Nasa figured it out quickly that the Rival S and Re71R were faster than the usual 200 wear lot and rated them with 100 rating tires.

Unsure how these would fare but folks could get an initial competitive edge. The autox street tire folks have another fast option IF these tires perform and last.

The world we live in.....

I don't know. At 4/32", they clear the tread depth hurdle.

That looks like a Hoosier A7/R7 which is DOT rated and as such legal in the USA.
