2017 BRZ "sti performance package" worth it?

https://www.subaru.jp/accessory/catalog/pdf/Brz_Acc.pdf

scroll to the bottom (the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 package) - basically the whole stiffening bar strut setup, STI aero and a silly looking "STI performance" exterior badge

dealer is offering this with a MY2017 car for about $2900

we don't get the performance package here (south east asia) and probably not the new TS either, which is a shame. would you guys bother with this, or put the money towards shocks and brakes?

2900 on cosmetics seems pricey to me.

What is the base price of the car? Applying exchange only shows what you would pay in US dollars not what the local value is. It could be a smoking deal in you currency value but be deceiving to us when exchange rate is used.

You are from Singapore, the cars are 4-5X more expensive(after all fees/taxes) than here in the US. I'd say it is worth it. You will feel different when the same car with the package parks next to yours, as cars are very much a "show" item in your country. If you plan to replace all those parts, you'll still get most of your money back on the used market.

check dosomega's thread?

If you don't do them all at once it's fun, you will feel how they make your car behave differently everytime you make a small change & add a part to the car.

This is how they sell this package now in Japan.

And this is how macho it was before.

If I were you I would get 1, 4, 5, 6 and the car's handling really does change. 2 and 3 requires some drilling on the body / rear bumper (I avoided this because I live in Canada where they use road salts). 4 and 5 can actually be installed together on the new revised BRZ (I don't have 5 on my 2014 car). If you can get 7 for $2900 I say go for it because it's a good deal vs. importing them individually, but in Japan you would have probably got the wheels included for around the same price (I saw the old JDM flyer long ago).
