Giving flat black wheels a dash of bronze? Expert backyard painters want to weigh in?

I have a new wheel/tire set up almost ready to mount, but the wheels I wanted were sold out in bronze and I had to get flat black (which I don't mind TOO much) but I would like to add just a dash of bronze to the color, anyone had luck doing that in the past? Looking for detailed steps/advice, preferably not including going to a paint booth or seeing a wheel shop: if it's too much to do, I'll just stick with the flat black.

I've done the rattle can rejuvenation on wheels before, and actually had decent results. If the wheels are bare, then it's MUCH easier to get good results than if you have tires mounted; like any paint job, it's all about the prep. But if the wheels are new and you already have tires on, then I'd stick with the factory finish, honestly..

Maybe use some bronze Plastidip and see how you like the accent before committing fully?

This is a great idea, put one or two cotes of this on top of one and see how it looks

Yeah the wheels are not mounted yet so I have freedom. I'm not looking (necessarily) for full bronze, just to add a bit of a bronze sheen that comes out when light hits the wheels.

I might tape off the faces and test colors/techniques on the barrels that no one will ever see

I painted my wheel rims with a bronze Rustoleum and they look incredible. Be sure to sand and prep well; there are no shortcuts that won't show up in paint.

Let the spraypaint or plastidip sit in hot water (do not submerge the cap) for 15 minutes prior to painting; it will make a world of difference.

Plastidip also has a metalizer spray that is highly effective. I don't know how it'll hold up washing though.

Nice! I'm looking for something a little different though, kinda just a fleck on top of the black paint... like a super thin film or partial spray of bronze kinda... hm might just have to wait and have them properly coated later

The plastidip metalizer spray I think would do great; you can be light with the application and get a nice flake. It's worth the 8 bucks to buy a can and try!
