This about says it all. To go with my FRS, I'd love to have a truck. Maybe an old Silverado truck and drop a 350 in it and make it into a toy truck. Big cam, big ole' open headers and a shiny carb and blower. Something like that- occasional use to haul crap when needed but cool as shit.

if I had $80k for a daily driver, nothing from the Subaru line up would make the list.

Hell if you're looking for an SUV in that price range the volvo XC90 is a beautiful and comfortable vehicle. The twin charge set up is lively

And it doesn't have a play school interior like a Forrester .

For $80k these would be my choices to park alongside a Twin...

- Audi SQ5 (plus a few mods)
- Porsche Macan Turbo
- Jaguar F-Pace S
- BMW X5 xDrive50i

Definitely agree with the sentiment that you should get something with plenty of practicality, comfort and power.

This is actually a relevant conversation for me because I bought the brz as a toy and am considering getting rid of my Sentra and buying a new daily.

Ignoring price but also keeping things reasonable:

Either a mid sized truck (probably a Ridgeline because it is the only current truck that does not drive like a POS), or a big sedan or hatch. Something like an SS or 5 series. Maybe even a cts

The Volvo s60 wagon has also caught my attention in a big way and would be a perfect fit. Makes me want to consider the brand. I have never thought much of their design and have possibly ignorant concerns about volvo reliability.

Everyone seems to pick SUVs, why not a large sedan or wagon? They have a lot of back seat space as well as trunk space, and there's usually a little less wind noise than on SUVs.

As long as you don't need to tow anything or the ground clearance, a hatch or wagon is always a better choice than an suv

People in the US just like taller vehicles though. It does make getting kids in and out of car seats easier I guess...

I'm really happy with my setup. The Forester XT is fast and grips like a boss, the BRZ is light, fun, and gets sideways.

The wife has a stock crosstrek, so we have everything we need covered. I'd add a beater truck if I had it my way.

What about a Maserati? It's right there at the top of your range and sounds freaking awesome in an Italian kind of way.


The Volvo suggestions are right on point. The V60XC has a great stance and looks like it can take care of itself nicely and that XC90 has the killer interior that you'll just like being in. The F Pace might edge it out for me though.

They look great broken down on the side of the road, too.

IDK if its really my ideal 2 car garage but I currently have my 2013 BRZ and then a 05 Outback XT wagon.

Got a Toyota C-HR recently, the car has countless kits from factory itself & many more from aftermarket in Japan already. �� Itch to mod never stopped since the day I got it. :lol:

Had first gen 4 cylinder Tacoma and loved it, but not like the V6 Frontier I now have... Don't really like the newer Tacoma's so they weren't ever a real consideration. The Frontier will out accelerate the FR-S and is quite fun in the corners for a truck... just needs a minor lift/suspension upgrade (Old Man Emu 1.5" lift setup), torsen differential, PRG differential cover, PRG short shifter, and Recaro seat swapped from the FR-S once the race seats go in it, and will be where I want it to.

A 2WD midsize V6 light truck makes the most sense for me... great for getting around the house stuff or large appliances, best vehicle option for towing the car when it's more track orientated, and good for light offroad use I have planned for it on trips to the southwest. It's a very good highway cruiser with nice sound system and features the FR-S doesn't have. It's also annoying at the same time...only drivers side auto down window and huge drivers side blind spot compared to the FR-S. Sports car and truck seems like the best combo to me, as the truck handles differently enough to not every worry abiut comparing to the FR-S handling and it can do things the FR-S can't. They are both specialists in their respective fields.
