LED Hyper Flash Solution
So I bought myself a 4x 7440 LED's for my Front and Rear turn signals. They were supposedly Canbus friendly, but when I installed them I found anything but Canbus friendly LED's and was met with a Hyper Flash.
This the first time I have seen this on my car and is naturally due to the low voltage draw from the LED's, so I looked around to find a solution and supposedly one is to install load resistors, which for $10 is an ok solution but they generate a lot of heat and wasted heat at that. Heat, as most people know is wasted energy from electricity that is stored and dissipated. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6SAhMHbrEA"]Load Resistor Temperature Comparison - YouTube[/ame] This video clearly shows how much heat these cheap resistors produce and I don't want to start clamping cables into my lights especially when it might snap the cable in two or the resistor may go and I'd have to fix the old joint and re-install. This video shows a perfect solution: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAEz3YC8SCA&t=3s"]FR-S / BRZ Fix Turn LED Hyperblink with Flasher - YouTube[/ame] This is what I recently bought off eBay because the numbers match and it's listed as working a Toyota 86. A Relay is what I think is the best way to go as there are no clamping or cutting wires or having to install a resistor in an area that won't burn plastic due to high temperatures. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/160866967...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT So when I get this I will plug it in and show you what the best way to do it is............. |

I bought a LED relay and it works fine with my LED's
you can also take off the mounting bracket from the old flasher and mount to the new one so you can reinstall it in the same place, and remove the old flasher |
It was too much of a fiddle for me in such a small place, I just left it there in case I have to go back to old setup.....but overall much better and safer than the resistor solution.

Having to just swap to the relay for LEDs, is one of the best thing on this car.

if you get aftermarket tail light like TOMS, this kind of relay comes with it
