12v center console adapter not charging.

The 12v fuse is good. Swapped it out with spare just in case.

How do I take it out?

I have good reason to believe it is somehow lose. It no longer charges...and imo seems loose.

This thing.

Nope, just remove the parking brake cover. You may be able to get your hand in there to feel if the plug is on. It's tight though.

So, how do you figure it's not charging .. ??

Did you try something else into the plug and see if it works..??

Bubba says to lick your finger and stick it in the outlet ...... see it tingles ......:D

+1 for @humfrz
also are you sure you are checking the right fuse?

Packofcrows 05-25-2017 02:55 AM

Yep right fuse. In fact, checked both:

Tried 2 different devices, 2 different cables and 2 different adapters. Seems there is play in 12v adapter....urgh... i may just end up plugging it up and buying a dual 12v adapter for one in glove box. YARGH cheapo quality.

A multimeter would be use full , to find any open circuits or shorts in wiring/plug/connectors.

p2 is console, p1 is glove. Done.

Oddly enough, my battery was drained this morning.... kinda got me angry and I pulled a idiot move, I kicked car into neutral, pushed out of garage, as it was rolling down driveway I turned it on... sigh so unsafe.

Hope I didnt kill a fuse yesterday as I pulled other 2 yesterday...

I did leave phone 12v adapter to USB plugged in that lights up in the console 12v so idk if that may have drained it? Maybe it kicks in here and there and turns on? No light showing its on though ;/

I don't understand your second to last sentence .....??

Yes, I understand the :bonk: s ...... :D

I reckon you have a weak battery or a dead short somewhere (or both now).

I hope you get it fixed before you get stranded somewhere you're not supposed to be .......and YOU know where that is ...... :eyebulge:

Was saying maybe it only works when it wants [console 12v]. I left my (testing to see if it works) ac adapter phone charger plugged in overnight.

How I would know it is receiving power is when it lights up. Maybe it was turning on overnight? I know slow drains can kill batteries so I am thinking maybe it was going on and off all night yesterday.

Well, Packofcrows, it would be highly unlikely that your cell phone could drain a car battery overnight ...... unless the battery was almost all the way drained to start with.

I'd suggest you have your battery load tested at a shop and recharged or replaced as appropriate.

Meanwhile, I'd pull the fuse for the p2 circuit, until you get the battery drain/short sorted out.
